Ron didn't get better.
I don't know what world he comes from, but where I come from, there's a punishment for rude behavior. There's a punishment for tormenting people for being them. And in Professor Flitwick's charms class, it got worse.

"Listen up, class." Announced Flitwick on top of a pile of books. He was very short, like a goblin, but nicer. "You all are ready for the next level of charms. We are going to levitate things."
The class cheered.
"Now, children. The charm is: Wimgardium Leviosa. Say it nice and clear. Ready, begin."
The whole class tried. Wimgaurdium Leviosa, Wimgaurdium Leviosa. But no one was able to even flicker the feather in front of them. Not once.
I for some reason, assumed Harry would magically have the knack for charms as well as Quidditch and be the first to have his feather in the air. Nope. In fact, his partner, Seamus Finnegan tried so hard his feather exploded in his face.
Ron was the worst.
"Wimgardium Leviosar." He yelled. Banging his wand against the table. It was the least I could do to help."
"Stop, Stop, Stop!" I began my lesson. "Your going to take someone's eye out. Besides, your saying it wrong. It's LeviOsa. Not Leviosar."
Ron only rolled his eyes. "Well." He began. "If you think your so smart, why don't you try?"
I pulled my sleeves up and sat up in my chair, held my wand to the feather, and chanted.
"Wimgardium, LeviOsa." Making sure he heard the O.
The feather lightly floated up in the air. Higher, higher, until it was at the ceiling.
"Look everyone! Granger's done it!" Flitwick called and (even if it was only in my mind) there was applause. I eyed Ron, who slumped back in his chair.

"It's LeviOsa. Not Leviosa." I heard a mimicking voice from ahead. It was Ron.
"She's a nightmare, I'm telling you. It's no wonder she has no friends."
I brushed past him, trying to show him I was brave. Trying not to cry. I was headed to the bathroom, where I could be alone.
Behind me, I heard innocent Harry say, "I think she heard you."
