3. You're fading
━━━━━━━━━━━
The cup of tea on your dressing table is no longer steaming hot, half full and the tea bag is floating somewhere near the surface of the bitter liquid. It reminds you of a dead body, half submerged in murky waters. The cup will sit there until morning and you still haven't got out of that bathrobe -perhaps the tea would taste sweeter with a few drops of blood. Remember your high school biology? It contains glucose, (no, your daughter isn't home, she left an hour ago).
You're looking at your reflection, not at yourself; she's a flat image, harmless, you know that monsters are three-dimensional, (well, that doesn't mean you're a hologram, yet).
You're searching for something other than madness in those eyes, but you see nothing, emptiness. You feel so far away, detached, disconnected, your body doesn't feel like it's yours anymore and your mind is filling with mist, dizziness is taking over and your pulse is trying to escape from your neck - take a deep breath.
You've picked up the scissors, don't think I wouldn't notice. Such an elementary mistake. I always notice and I know these silly tricks, you can't scare me away, you're not capable of that. Now, listen to my warning and don't you dare let the idea nest in your head, if you touch me with those blades you'll finally see what I hide behind this smile (and I may just sink my teeth deeper into your mind).
You're wondering why your daughter is plotting to kill you again. Stop with this internal monologue, you are losing my interest. I've told you time and time again, she's not the real threat.
I am.
Your misguided sense of entitlement really is quite entertaining. Ignore me whilst you've got the luxury, laugh at me all you like. When my voice is the only one that reaches your ears, I'll set fire to your skies and bring the threshold of hell to your doorstep.
Be careful as to not overstep your boundaries, you will get burnt.
