Chapter 1

Jefferson's POV:

I sighed as I threw my quill on the desk in defeat. I was, once again, working late. Alone, as usual, the silence rang in my ears, deafening me.

I would much rather be at home, curled up on the couch by the fire, drinking a glass of whiskey, maybe reading a book. Just my usual evening routine before going to bed in my large, comfy king-sized bed, covered in my deep purple satin sheets, then drifting off to sleep...cuddled against...my pillows...alone...all night.

Oh, who am I kidding? I hate leaving this empty office to go home to a large, empty house, relaxing in my empty living room and then going to sleep in a very empty bed! I'm tired of living like this. I'm lonely. I've been in cabinet meetings, surrounded by people and yet still felt more alone than ever. My heart longs for someone, something to love.

I sighed once more as I realised, this is my life. I have a couple of friends, some family and a tiring, dull job. Why was a worrying so much about such a trivial thing? No. I can't allow myself to feel this way. I am not weak. I don't need love. I don't need someone. I'm fine. I'm perfectly happy the way I am.

I stood up, slammed my book shut, grabbed my bag and left. Once home, I grabbed a bottle of my favourite whiskey and reached for a glass.
"Ah, fuck it. Tonight, I'm drinking straight from the bottle" I murmured to myself as I skulked off to my bedroom.  I lay down on my bed and drank most of the bottle, with no regrets.

Hey guys, I just wanted to say sorry this chapters so short, I'm new to writing and this was just to start this story off. I hope you guys enjoyed it, I'm not sure when the next chapter will be out but I'm up for any suggestions/feedback on this chapter, so let me know! Also, this will be a story with swear words and in a couple chapters time there will be some smut kinda stuff (lmao) so just a warning.
