Part One - Backstory

In the heart of Othea stands a peaceful kingdom by the name of Abraana, ruled by King Michael Clifford. He was a righteous king who had many followers including the knight Sir Luke, the Lord Calum and the newbie assassin Aliksa. However everything they knew and thought about this peaceful kingdom was about to change.

Calum p.o.v

I opened the door to the kings chambers. Even though he is a good friend of mine I always get nervous when he calls for me to come to his chambers. As i open the door, I see him standing there looking out of his window. If i had looked a little closer I would've seen the mischievous grin plastered on his face before i spoke. "You have called for me your highness" I said calmly. "Yes Calum I was wondering if there has been any news on newbies in our ranks and conflicts in the north. As you know a war might occur since the kingdom of Askye is being ruled by a spoiled queen". I proceeded to inform him of the many eager soldiers that want to join our ranks and how the Queen Abigail Breslin was continuing with her childish ways and banishing those who rebelled against them.

"As you wish, my king." I had just been ordered to go on a quest with the new assassin in our ranks, Aliksa. She had only joined two months ago, and has been set to travel. The quest was only trivial. Eliminate a bandit group to the south which have been known to steal weapons and armor from our kingdom and take them to Queen Breslin. In my opinion, we should be attacking her kingdom first and stopping this war before it bega-

"Calum." The king interrupted my thoughts "How about you and Aliksa stay in the castle for a few days before you go on your journey?"

"I would love to however we need to inform Aliksa before I make a definite decision"

"Very well then you are dismissed" said the King as a sly grin spread across his face but I thought nothing of it and went to go find Aliksa

Aliksa's p.o.v

These past few months have been hell, I thought to myself, but at least it's for something I've been dreaming of my whole life. I am 17 years old, and I've been told by Calum that I am the youngest person ever to be initiated into becoming an assassin. He also said that as I'm the youngest, we have to go through more brutal training, as we aren't as "physically able" as the older people, which just means we have to do the same things, but more harder and for a longer time. It was strenuous but I loved every minute of it even if it did leave tears in my clothing and some scraps on my skin but I loved it. It was my dream job and i'm so close to achieving it.

I was startled as my chambers doors swang open and out of habit I fixed my clothing and straightened up. It was Lord Calum who entered My chambers. "Aliksa we will be leaving in three days for a quest, we need you to complete your training as soon as possible. Luckily the King has invited us to stay at his castle before we head out, they have better training facilities so you should be able to train quicker." he said, his loud booming voice instantly filling the room.

"Yes sir, Thank you " I reply in a polite manner. For me, this is a dream come true. I'm being taken on a quest and staying in the Kings Castle.

"Finish packing by the afternoon, we can't keep the King waiting" I nodded quickly, a wide childish grin spread across my face as i went to pack my belongings making sure to bring my favourite dagger. However little did I know that bringing that would lead me down an unexpected path, a path no one wants to go down.

Calum's P.O.V

As I walked away from Aliksa's chamber, I heard her slump against her chainmail armour, for when she is called to battle with us. I genuinely feel sorry for her, the training she is going through is very harsh on her. But it's paying off, she's the most talented assassin I've seen in our ranks.

My wife, Aiisha, and my two children, Riley (daughter) and Jordi (son) were waiting for me at our home. As I walked straight through my door, as usual Riley jumped and hugged around my waist, and Jordi shouted for my name
"Daddy!!!" Jordi called, and as I put down Riley after hugging her, he jumped up to me.
"Knight Luke has been, he was wondering where you were." Aiisha had said to me. I wonder why.
"I was informed by King Michael that me and our new assassin, Aliksa, were to stay in the King's castle for a few days, before our quest to Askye, to eliminate a bandit group working for Queen Breslin" I replied.
"Oh, when will you be staying?" Aiisha said back.
"We will be staying from tomorrow, until two days from now." I exclaimed, trying to pry Jordi's hands from my sheathed dagger. He really loved holding it.

Timeskip to the next day

I set off early, careful as to not wake my family, and met Aliksa outside the King's castle entrance.

"My lord," Aliksa said while bowing, "for how long will we be staying under the good King's hospitality?"
"A few days only, he has set us a quest and the sooner we get it done the better"
"Understood"
And with that we set off , making it to the kings castle by the afternoon. I instantly went to notify the king of our arrival, leaving Aliksa to unpack in her temporary room. I already missed my wife and children but after this is all over I can see them again, if I don't get killed of course but that possibility has a very slim chance of happening.

Wow, this was a slow chapter. Please excuse the rubbishness this is our first time writing fanfiction so it's going to be a bit all over the place. The plot line will get better I promise. I will try to update as much as possible but no promises I do have school after all T_T. Anyway that it for now hope you enjoyed ~Ser
