Sweet Goodbye
"Someday you'll gonna realize. One day you'll see this through my eyes." The original singer of the bar sang. "But then I won't even be there. I'll be happy somewhere. Even if i can't.."
"Why do we have to end up like this?" he asked, half crying.
"Simple." She said emotionless. "I fell out of love."
"Why?" he pleaded as his voice cracked, unable to control his tears.
He just couldn't believe it. They were looking so inlove a while ago as they sang on their sanctuary bar and now she's telling him she don't love him anymore. He couldn't understand why, when, how, and the most painful question, who.
"I know you don't really see my worth. You think you're the last guy on earth. Well I've got news for you. I know I'm not that strong. But it won't take long. Won't take long.."
"May iba ba?" he asked as she didn't answer him and looked instead at the stage where they just showed how they love each other half an hour ago.
"Wala."
"Then why?" he then grasp her arms. "Bakit ka nakikipaghiwalay? Anong nagawa kong mali?"
"Hindi ba pwedeng basta hindi na kita mahal?" she then pulled her arms back.
"Ano yon?" he laughed, full of sarcasm. "You were there," he said pointing at the stage. "in front of those people showing them how much you love and now you're saying na hindi mo na ko mahal?"
"Anong magagawa ko eh sa hindi na nga kita mahal!" she yelled, avoiding his gaze.
"Coz someday, someone's gonna love me. The way, I wanted you to need me. Someday, someone's gonna take your place. One day I'll forget about you. You'll see, I won't even miss you. Someday, someday.."
"Look at me." He said as he grabbed her face to observe her face. He's desperate. He has this feeling that maybe there is a reason behind all of this. He doesn't want to believe that she don't love him anymore. He doesn't want to accept that she fell out of love. He doesn't want to and he can't.
"Now tell me." He commanded as she finally gave in to look into his eyes. "Ngayon mo sakin sabihing hindi mo na ko mahal."
He still has the courage to ask her because he still has this sting of hope in his heart. He knows she wouldn't just throw their four-years relationship in just a snap. He still has faith on her. Even if she's hurting him.
"Elmo, please." She pleaded. "Wag mo nang saktan ang sarili mo. Just accept the fact that I'm breaking up with you."
"But now, I know you can't tell. I'm down, and I'm not doing well. But one day these tears, they will all run dry. I won't have to cry. Sweet goodbye.."
She was close to crying, he knew. And that means she still loves him. But he can't understand a thing. Why does she have to hurt him? Herself?
"Just tell me the reason you're breaking up with me!" he yelled as he bursts into tears, not minding whether they're in a public place. He can't help it anymore. He is hurting to the point that he can't feel anything else. He feels numb.
"Julie, please." He held her arms. "Tell me, anong ginawa ko? Kung ano man yon, I'm sorry... Sorry na, babe. Promise, hindi ko na ulit gagawin yun. Just please, don't break up with me." He bowed to hide his tears. "Please Julie, kahit ano gagawin ko. Huwag mo lang akong iwan."
"Elmo, please." She started crying. She can't help it. She doesn't know what good deeds she did in the past to have a man like him. But she has to do this, even if he's hurting. Even if she's hurting.
"Wag mo na kong pahirapan." She touches his face. "Wag mo nang pahirapan ang sarili mo."
"I can't lose you." He then held her hand that's on his face firmly, afraid that she will vanish in just a second. "I can't afford to lose you Julie. Kahit ano wag lang ikaw." He sobbed. "Diba matagal mo nang pinatatapon sakin yung mga collections ko? I'll do it. Pati yung mga shells sa banyo? Itatapon ko na lahat.. Lahat lahat, Juls. Wag lang ikaw."
"Elmo." She sobbed.
"I'd rather lose all the things in this world, but not you. Hindi ko kaya Julie." He kissed her hand. "I can't imagine the world without you."
"I'm sorry Elmo but I have to do this." She then kissed him on the lips.
He lovingly responds to her kisses. Frustration, confusion, anger, love. He let her feel what he feels. Maybe she'll realize what she'll lose if she give him up. He lovingly kisses her, not minding the people around them. He's afraid that this maybe the last time he'll be able to feel her like this so he grabbed the opportunity. She was about to stop when he grab her nape and kiss her fully, tears flowing from his eyes.
"Coz someday, someone's gonna love me. The way, I wanted you to need me. Someday, someone's gonna take your place wo-oh-oh. One day I'll forget about you. You'll see, I won't even miss you. Someday.."
He stopped when he tasted something salty and he realized that she's crying.
"Julie.."
"I know you'll find someone better than me." she lovingly stared at him. "You deserve someone better, Elmo. Someone who's not afraid to fight for you."
"But you're the only one I want." He touched her forehead using his and closed his eyes.
"Ikaw lang din ang gusto ko, Moe." She whispered, not wanting him to hear what she said. She closed her eyes instead and hugged him one last time.
"I know someone's gonna be there. Someday, someone's gonna love me. The way, I wanted you to need me. Someday, someone's gonna take your place."
Elmo was about to open his eyes when Julie stopped him.
"Don't open your eyes not until after ten seconds."
"But Julie..."
"One day I'll forget about you. You'll see, i won't even miss you.."
"Please, Elmo." She cried as she saw tears flowing from his eyes. She kissed him one last time before she said those words that crushed him. "Your ten seconds starts now."
"Someday, someday.."
"Goodbye, Elmo."
