"What? How is a rocket-ship going to help you?" Shinn asked a little less angrily, but hate was still boiling in her blood.

"Uh, to get off this crumbling planet—why else?" He said pulling the tarp off of the large object. "I've been working on it for months, but now I actually need it. Haven't tried it out yet, which is why I'm here."

Just then, three people in a mini-van swerved into the junkyard, nearly hitting Darian's truck. Before even coming to a complete stop, one of the women had already opened the car door. It was a group of adults—two girls and one boy. "We found your video on Facebook!" Yelled the guy as they all hop out of the van. The girls immediately darted to the back of the car and began pulling out dozens of  empty five water gallon jugs from the trunk and set them on the ground with little to no care of how they're positioned on the gravel.

"We have to take shelter underground!" shouted one of the girls as the guy went to the back of the car to help them unload the empty containers.

"No, we have to leave the earth," Darian said with a scoff, disagreeing, and this made the group of grown-ups stop for a moment and look at him like he was the most foolish person they had ever known to exist.

"And just how exactly do you expect we do that?" One of the girls asked with what sounded almost like disgust in her voice.

"Um, hello!" Darian said gesturing to his 'rocket-ship'. "Why else would I have this thing?"

"That couldn't possibly work, you dingus!" cried the other girl.

"How dare you! Of course it does, are you trying to insult me? W-Watch! I'll show you, I'll show you all!" He hurriedly dragged the ship off of the trailer, pulled open the door (which was actually an old car door) and got in. After several long minutes of strange sounds, whirring fans, and indescribable colors flashing from tiny buttons, the rocket ship began to rise, shooting smoke out from the bottom making all of us cough uncontrollably. The air blasting from it was throwing gravel and dust up as well as the smoke and none of us could breathe nor see.

He gradually began rising and gaining speed as he rose. Slowly the air cleared, and we all looked up into the sky. Never had any of us in our lifetimes expected to see in person a homemade rocket-ship literally rocketing up into the sky at unmeasurable speeds...only to see it stop as if it was sitting in the air, but then realize it was falling.

"Take cover!" I screamed as I pulled Shinn to the back of the junkyard and behind a car missing it's side windows with a shattering windshield. The group hid behind a pile of scrap metal near to where their car was. Surprisingly enough, though, The spaceship landed on its side, without an explosion and instead resulted in a huge dent. That was the only damage caused by the unintentional landing. Shinn and I lifted our faces up from behind the car to see what would happen next.

The guy from the group of grown ups walked up to Darian and scolded him. "What were you thinking? You could've gotten us all killed had that thing exploded! Not to mention it's engine failed anyways." He was now in Darian's face.

Darian, however pushed him away, and replied "The engines and rockets worked fine! That's the only reason we're not all dead right now! I steered the ship down to the ground, it didn't crash and burn, that's not—"

"Oh and that's why your ship is lying on its side with a dent, isn't it? Because that sure makes sense." said the more plump girl sarcastically who was now by her friend's side.

"Oh my God, would you just listen? Something was preventing the ship from going up, you Richard Cranium!"

"You idjit! There's nothing up there but air, stop with your unreasonable excuses!" the man had said again.

The second girl stomped right up to Darian and said quite calmly, actually "We didn't say your ship wouldn't fly, but trying to survive in space in such a small ship, for several years would kill you. You wouldn't be able to provide enough food, water, or oxygen."

Darian, at this point, couldn't say anything to defend himself because her point was just too good of one and he knew she was completely right.
