Chapter 1
As the thought came to my mind, the sound of the steel door opening reached my ears. Footsteps followed with the sound of something or better yet someone being dragged. I followed James’s eyes and found my suspicion to be correct; it was john. He looked terrible but when his eyes meet mine, there was a glimpsed of hope but was quickly drain when Ryan pulled him to stand.
James helped Ryan pull john on a chair and tied him, so he couldn’t move. “Now Emma why don’t we play a little game, I ask you questions and for each right answer your brother’s death won’t be as painful”. I nodded yes and felt my heart constrict at the thought of John dying. “Alright then first question where is mommy and daddy ?” I wanted to lie so badly but answered truthfully instead, “there at a beach house that we own in Los Angles”. James looked at Ryan for confirmation, Ryan nodded which seem to make James satisfied.
“Alright next question what’s so important about your brother?”, I knew I had to lie here or what my family has been protecting over thousands years and there sacrifices will go to waste. “He’s family why wouldn’t you protect someone who taught you everything you know about life”. Once again James looked at Ryan but when he got a shrug he was furious. “YOU DON’T KNOW IF SHE’S TELLING THE TRUTH!”
Ryan whimpered in fear “No sir she didn’t get to tell me that part”. James glared at him and at me, but continued with more questions which I told half truthfully. Each question got more personal and personal, just when I thought I would lose my angry once again he stopped. “Well now that I got everything out of you, it’s time for your brother’s death”. I hoped and prayed it would be quick and easy so John wouldn’t feel any pain, but when it came to James and his promises I knew I couldn’t trust him. “I say lest do it long and painful” And with that he left with John in tow, while Ryan took me out of my cell.
To say I was stunned was the least but I kept a straight face as I was pulled to my feet to face the thing I was scared most about; my brother’s death.
