One of my favorite thing to do is reading Creepypastas. Sometimes, I listen to narrations on YouTube. There are plenty of narrations choose from, but I mostly prefer CreepsMcPasta and LitterBot.
Since I enjoy Creepypastas so much, I've decided to put some of my favorites in this book for all you guys to enjoy.
What is a Creepypasta, you ask?
Well, for those who are unaware, it has its origins in the term 'copypasta', which CreepsMcPasta pointed out in his video "A History of Creepypasta", should be pronounced copy-paste-a, as it comes from the computer command copy and paste. But most people ignored this and continues to call the fandom according to how it's read.
Anyway, Creepypastas are basically horror stories as the name suggest, which are passed around in forums or other sites across the Internet. Creepypastas are mostly in text form, but sometimes, they also come from supplement information, like pictures, audio, or videos, usually with disturbing content. This is the case of the well known Creepypastas like Suicidemouse.avi and Squidward's Suicide.
It's hard to pinpoint who began the idea of Creepypasta and where they first originate since most stories were posted anonymous. A lot of older Creepypastas may have originated from the /x/ board on 4chan, which is a board dedicated to paranormal. Older Creepypastas, the 'original', had to have some realism and believability to the story, or else people wouldn't spread them around. Some however, are based on urban legends such as Polybius and the Bunny Man, while others were inspired from real life killers or phenomenon, such as The Pass and Capgras Delusion.
In the days before internet, a lot of Creepypastas were terrifying and more believable simply because there was no origin to trace it back in order to prove it was fictional. There was usually no author credited or what happened to them after the events of the story which adds to the spookiness.
These older Creepypastas also followed a set of formulas. These includes anecdotes, rituals, (like The Holder series) and lost episodes. (like Dead Bart and Squidward's Suicide)
Eventually, dedicated Creepypasta websites did come about, with creepypasta.com launching in 2008, which sparked a massive change to the community. There, characters such as Jeff the Killer began to surface and earn fame. It wasn't long until the idea of 'Pasta Monsters' began to surface and boom; The SCP Foundation was born.
Most interestingly, copy and pasting Creepypastas are now frowned upon by the community since it's basically stealing. A lot of OC's began to show up from nowhere which did not only steal the author's work but also made them cringey as hell. A good example for this is Nina the Killer and Laughing Jill.
A lot of authors are now trying to make their names known throughout the community through the Creepypastas they write, rather than making their stories believable. As an example, the long, multi-part Penpal Creepypasta series (which was eventually edited and self published as a novel by the author) while some made their stories highly believable that they used hacks to trick their readers into believing that they are true. A good example for this is BEN DROWNED.
As of today, the fandom continues growing. Filmmakers started making movies about Creepypasta characters (Slenderman: Always Watching) while some started small and began filming web videos on YouTube. (Marble Hornets, TribeTwelve, One Hundred Yard Stare) Many YouTubers do dramatic readings of Creepypastas (MrCreepypasta, CreepsMcPasta, CreepypastaJr, Doctor Horror, and whole lot of others) while some fans created games to go along with them (Sonic.exe, Slenderman and the Eight Pages, Illusion: Ghost Killer (Jeff The Killer) etc).
So yeah, that pretty much sums it all up. I hope you guys enjoy these stories I'm about to show you and all those craps. Please note that none of these stories are mine and all credits goes to the original authors.
Enjoy~
