Safe House
Chapter 1
"Dude get up!" Shane yelled disturbing me out of my deep slumber. "Your not gonna believe this."
I shoved him away to stop his shaking and dived under my pillow to muffle his talking. Suddenly hands took hold of my ankles and dragged me from my bed directly into sunlight where I groaned covering my eyes from the blinding light.
"What the hell Shane!" I frowned. "One day. One day that I can sleep in, is that soo much to ask for?" I grumbled walking into my personal bathroom.
Toothpaste on my brush I began making small circles around the inside of my mouth, getting rid of any morning breath. Splashing my face with water I walked back into my room patting my face dry with a towel.
Shane stood impatiently in the door way, tapping his foot irritably. I found it ironic that he was the one annoyed.
"Are you done throwing your tantrum?" I asked raising a brow.
"Oh yes. But are you done, Princess? I mean it's just a typical day when we find a girl asleep in our yard right? Maybe you should just go back to bed....."
"Did you just say there's a girl in our yard?" I asked surprised.
"Maybe, but then again maybe not." He teased.
"Don't be an idiot Shane." I glared. "Is there a girl or not?"
"Yes ma'am." He drawled.
Shane was 25, a year older than me and most times it felt like we were back in high school and I was the one keeping him out of trouble. We'd moved in together after high school to pay bills and attend college to together. I'd only just finished my freshman year when mom and dad passed away in a car accident leaving me with custody of a new born Bryen. Speaking of which......
"Has Bryen seen her yet?" He shook his head. "I don't want him around her, for all we know she could be a danger."
"Danger? Trust me I think she's anything but a danger." He smiled, glancing out my window.
Ignoring his odd manner I made my way down the stairs and towards the kitchen where the back door was. A sight stopping me in my tracks. Bryen stood on one of our dining chairs rinsing an apple and then placing it next to a tall glass of water.
"Bryen?"
"Yes that is me." He grinned at me mischievously and high-fived a very proud Shane.
"Don't be teaching him stuff Shane." I sighed, bending a knee so I was eye level with my little brother. "Bry I thought you hated apples?"
"I do." He confirmed grabbing his apple and water from the counter. "This isnt for me Andy."
With that he bounded out the door to the yard.
"Kids." I chuckled glancing at Shane who had a smug grin. "What?"
"Thought you said you didn't want Bry around the girl." He laughed as I ran towards the yard.
*Ariel POV*
Last night I had gotten on a bus and rode it until I couldn't anymore. I was in Winston County four county's away from my home in Willow County. Hurt and exhausted I roamed the streets cutting through yards and alleyways. Until I finally collapsed under a bush, too tired to move and decided to spend the night there. Promising to be up early morning to keep moving as far away as I could from my father.
My dreams were haunted by my mother's lifeless body and father's evil laughing.
"Oh man, Andy is not gonna believe THIS!" A voice said suddenly waking me from my sleep.
