Mr. Baker already sat down because he knew there was no way in hell we were about to learn anything. Andrew grabbed his backpack and ran over and sat beside me, "We are still going to the block party tonight, right?"
"Or we could go to the party at Chelsea's." His eyes went wide when I said that.
"I know you've made your list and shit about how this is going to be your summer but there is no fucking way we are getting in there."
"You know Christopher?" I asked taking his hand in mine.
"Who doesn't?"
I squeezed his hand, "Well I heard he thought you were cute so maybe you could flirt our way in there."
His face flooded with pink and he was trying so hard to act natural, "We can party all summer but let us just have tonight, please Tay."
"Fine" before I could say anything else on the subject the bell rung and we all jumped up and rushed out of the classroom.
Andrew and I have been living next door to each other for the past fifteen years and have been best friends for fourteen of them, I couldn't say no to the block party.
We road our bikes home and half the block was already cut off when we got home. "Balloons, pool games, and hamburgers; I'm tired of it Andrew." I said as we dropped our bikes in the driveway.
"I know you've reached the point where you want the finer things in life; boobs, booze, and drugs. I'm sorry Tay but we aren't living in a seventy's movie." We walked in my house and I didn't even have to check to see if my parents were home, I knew that dad was barbecuing and mom was making finger sandwiches with Mrs. Barry. We made our way upstairs and while he laid down on my bed I walked over to my window and checked out everything that was happening across the street.
"Andrew check this shit out!" he knew it was no good to argue with me so he just groaned and walked over to the window. "Look at her." I stopped breathing but it was like the sight of her filled my lungs. He just shrugged like he didn't even care about the way her butt barely flashed from under her baby blue cut-offs and that her hair went every direction but still made it all the way down to her waist.
"That's her." I couldn't take my eyes off her even when she disappeared into the house with some boxes. He was talking but I couldn't hear him because in a split second she was back outside and she was staring right at me. All I wanted to do was duck and pray she didn't see me, but it was too late for that because she was already waving. I waved back and when she smiled it felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest.

I couldn't tell you how long I sat there before I realized the sun had set and all the tiki lights lit up and I heard the front door slam. "Taylor! Andrew! Get your swimsuits on and come join the party!"
