It was a quarter past ten when we grabbed our bikes. The party had just started wearing down so as long as we were back before my parents got home everything would be fine. We were waiting outside of Summer's house when she walked out. She had put back on the same shorts from earlier and a V-neck tee-shirt. She smiled at me before grabbing her bike off the back of her parent's car. "Ready?" Andrew asked. She motioned for him to go, "Your lead my fine sir".
When we got to beach and it was completely empty. We stopped our bikes in a circle. "Maybe we are early" I said. "Or maybe it's over" Andrew added and then he shrugged, "Gosh darn lets go home."
Just then we saw fireworks shoot into the sky from almost a block away.
A smile spread across Summer's face when she turned to us, "Or maybe we just weren't close enough." She turned her bike around and started peddling.
We knew we made it when I Andrew ran over a beer can in the road. "Who's house is this?" I asked.
Andrew shrugged, "I don't know, but I'm pretty sure who's brother that is" he started laughing. Once I got my eyes set on him I couldn't stop watching him. My lameo brother, bandana around his head, upside down, keg stand. I stopped watching once I heard Summer's bike drop to the ground.
"Let's get this started" she headed straight for the porch but Andrew and I stayed behind. "Is that what you were picturing Tay?" He asked putting his hand on my shoulder. I just shook my head and followed his lead.
There was people making out everywhere! Even in the dining room!
We met back up with summer in the kitchen she was searching through the cooler. She grabbed three and handed us two. Mike's Hard Lemonade, that was the last thing I thought about it.
Andrew put his back in the cooler when Summer turned her head, but I like lemonade and Summer oh my God.
She had already made her way out onto the sand by the time we were heading out the backdoor. She really never slowed down.
There he was coming up out of the water, he looked like a tiger the way is eyes were set directly on her as if she were prey. When Andrew noticed he grabbed me by my shoulders and shook me, "Magnum Kenny"
Before we could make it off of the porch he was already talking to her and she didn't seem to mind, she was just giggling.
"Hey I've got some business to attend to," Andrew was checking out someone in the house "will you be okay?"
"Sure, I'll be fine" he just kissed me on the cheek and thanked me before running back inside.
I made my way over to Summer and Kenny, his smile faded the closer I got.
She linked her arm in mine once I got there and I almost peed my pants.
"Does your brother know you're drinking?" Kenny asked staring at my drink then back at me.
"Huh? It's lemonade dumbass." I showed him the label.
Summer was looking at me, "No honey, there is alcohol in it - I thought you knew."
I dropped it on the sand, "Oh yeah of course, I'll be right back." I headed inside. I searched for a bathroom for almost five minutes, by the time I finally found it I had already seen about twenty people making out.
I used the mouthwash about three times then I just sat there and stared at myself in the mirror. I wanna have fun why can't I just have fun? Why do I feel like I still have to be a good kid? It's all Andrew's fault! He's always been the one to make sure I was doing the right thing.
I swung the bathroom door open and it was a Speak of the Devil moment. I just got a glimpse of him being pulled into one of the bedrooms. The door was barely open a crack so I stuck peeked in. He was on the persons lap so I couldn't really make out who it was.
First I noticed the watch then I got a glimpse of his face, I pushed the door open, "Matt?!"
Andrew hopped up and Matt looked like dear in headlights.
