To get away from the madness of the party for a moment, I walked out the patio doors and onto the deck. Behind Vic and Elaina's house, the entire New York City sky line was visible. The view was breath taking.
I pulled my coat across my chest as I felt the wind start to stir up. The liquor I'd consumed helped to warm me up but the wind was getting a bit more harsh.
Moments later, the back door opened revealing Odell in a multicolored jacket.
I felt my breath get stuck in my throat as he walked towards me.
"What you doing out here by yourself?" He walked over and stood next to me, leaning on the deck railing.
I shrugged and looked out at the Hudson River. "I just wanted to get away from all the commotion for a bit."
I looked at his face intently. The smoothness if his skin to the natural arch of his eyebrows. The lights from across the river flickered and reflected brightly in his eyes.
His face turnt up slightly. "You've been over here for like a twenty minutes."
"I know. I'm a bit of an introvert. I need a lot time to recoup sometimes. Being around a lot of people kind of drains the energy out of me." I chuckled nervously as my eyes found my feet. I felt shyness quickly wash over me.
"Okay. I understand." He turned towards me and stared. And I let him. He reached and pulled my hair behind my ear.
"So I got a lil liquid courage to say this, but you're gorgeous Ava."
I blushed a bit. I turned my head to look at him.
"Thank you."
"And I know I've been stalking your social media and everything, but I didn't have your number so..."
I watched him looking down and play with his fingers. He's perfect.
"Is this your way of asking for it?"
Oh, so you bold all of a sudden bitch.
He smiled and scratched the back of his neck before looking at me again. "I guess so. To be honest, I would be a jack ass if I let you go home tonight without having a different form of contacting you."
"Smart man."
Looking at each other, we laughed. His charming smile was really taking a toll on me.
He handed me his phone and I gladly added my phone number into his contact list.
"So tell me a lil about yourself. All I know is that you're an introvert, you go to NYU, and your brother is my teammate."
