Chapter 14

Brooke's POV

"Oh my gosh! Thank you!," Tiana squealed as my mom showed her, her costume. She held up the green and blue fabric against her body examining it.

"Go try it on," My mom said excitedly as she ushered her towards the bathroom. Seconds later, Tiana emerged from the bathroom in the costume. It had a metallic blue bodice and a green skirt that reached mid-thigh. 

 "It's beautiful. Thank you Mrs. Speir," She said gratefully.

"Oh, you can just call me Kayla. Mrs. Speir makes me feel old," She said, "So, when's your boyfriend coming?"

"He's not my boyfriend," I sighed as Tiana raised an eyebrow, "He's coming at seven thirty,"

"I know but he's so cute. Well, I have some stuff to do so you girls have fun," My mom gushed as she left the room. 

"I didn't know your mom was the Kayla Merna," Tiana said.

 "It's not that big of a deal," I shrugged smoothing out the skirt of my pirate costume.

 "So, you haven't told your mom about dating Adam?" Tiana asked.

"If I did. She would be squealing and yelling and embarrass me," I rambled.

"Oh, ok," She said. "What about Zac? What's your deal with him? You said you would tell me," 

"Oh well long story short, Zac and I were friends. Zac was nerdy," I began.

"Zac was nerdy?!" She exclaimed, "Oh sorry keep going,"

"So I gave him a makeover, and he wasn't nerdy anymore, hot actually. Then he started to hang out with Adam and Clayton. And he said he didn't want to be my friend anymore. The end," I sighed.

"What!? That's so mean!" Tiana frowned.

"Yeah, but I'm kinda over it," I said as I looked at the clock. Seven twenty seven.

"We should go wait by the door," I said as I walked towards the door. Once I was back on the first floor I pulled on my boots. Tiana pulled on a pair of black flats, adjusted the fake peacock feathers on the back of her dress, and as she repositioned her hair band, the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it!" My mom yelled as Tiana and I headed towards the door.

"Oh you guys are matching! That's so cute," My mom cried.

"Oh, yea we are," I said as I looked at Adam in his pirate costume which wasn't much, just a light shirt, a vest, a hat, a few necklaces, and pants.

"Hey, babe," He smiled as he leaned in to kiss my cheek.

"I didn't know you two were dating," My mom said trying to hold back a smile.

"Yes, we are now. I asked her out yesterday," He said.

"Ok, well you kids have fun, and don't do anything stupid. Oh, and you. Adam don't break my baby's heart; my husband is in the other room and can beat the pickles out of you," She yelled as she pushed Tiana and I out the door.

"Well, your mom's interesting," Adam said as we walked towards his car. 

"Yea, I know," I sighed.
