Joshua had just finished tossing his clothes into the dryer from the washing machine when his cell phone began to vibrate. Picking it up he saw it was David calling.

"Hey buddy what's up?" Joshua answered.

"Brian has been abducted," David blurted out.

"What? When?" Joshua gasped.

"Last night," David replied. He told Joshua the whole story about how he woke up alone in the rental car and all that had taken place since. Joshua sat and listen in horror as David cried to him on the other end.

David was Joshua's best friend and the two had been through so much together in the past several years; starting with the Denver demon case that put Joshua in a mental institution for a short time. He loved David with all his heart and hated to ever see him hurt or upset. The two were closer than most and Joshua was not about to leave David alone across the world looking for Brian by himself.

"You stay put until I get there, I will catch the next available flight to Rome and I will help you find Brian," Joshua instructed. "I don't want you out there in a foreign country roaming around alone; especially with serial kidnappers on the loose!" Joshua pointed out.

"I promise I will wait for your arrival before going out looking but you better hurry because time is of the essence here," David replied.

"I am aware of that David. Just sit tight I will be there before you know it," Joshua promised before hanging up.

Joshua was worried about his friend. If he knew David he would not wait long before going out on his own and looking for Brian. David loved that man more than anything. Joshua knew that all too well having been through so much with the two of them as well as the best man at their wedding. He loved them both dearly and would move heaven and earth for either one of them if they needed it.

Joshua thought about Sasha; he wished he could call her but after she divorced her husband she left town and nobody has heard from her since. Maybe it was best; after all she too had been through so much. Still he missed her and often wondered how she was doing.

He briefly considered calling David's mother Rose but thought better of it. She would flip out for sure and insist on going with Joshua to Rome. Joshua hated the thought of going all that way alone but knew it was best to do so considering people were vanishing left and right around the city.

Joshua often felt David must be the poster child for bad luck and those lucky or unlucky enough to be close to him always seemed to get caught up in it. Bad luck really was not the way to describe David's uncanny ability to fall into traumatic situations; cursed would be a more accurate description. Most people would have left David alone had they been through half of what Joshua and others close to the man had gone through. It isn't every day you wind up face to face with a demon that is out to take the soul of your best friend and all those who get in the way along with it.

Joshua had never believed in heaven or hell or the supernatural but having touch his life in a major way changed all that. Now he always found himself wondering and waiting for the next shoe to drop. In the back of his mind Joshua could not help but wonder if Brian's disappearance had something supernatural attached to it in some way. He shivered at the mere thought of it. The last demon he had come in contact with was a nasty one and it messed him up for quite a while.

It messed him up so badly that he had nearly convinced himself he had become possessed while in the nut house; killing several people before making his escape. He often wondered if it was a drug induced dream or if it really happened and nobody was telling him in order to protect him. He had asked both David and Brian about but they both quickly dismissed it as being a nightmare.

"If you had become possessed and broke out of the facility we probably would not be having this conversation," David would assure him. Still to Joshua the whole thing seemed all too real.

David hated lying to his best friend but how could he explain what he himself could not make heads or tails of. It appeared that many of them shared the same dream which made David question if it in fact had been a dream or really happened. The last thing he knew he was on a cliff in Sedona calling on the Arc angel Michael for help.

David had decided to put it all out of his mind; after all he had his family and his best friend back. The one thing he still could not explain was how Brian had knew to meet him at the airport upon his return trip home. He was happy Brian did because the two have been insuperable ever since. Brian told David of the dream he had and that is what motivated him to quit his job at the Denver Police department and go after what he truly wanted and that was David.

In the back of his mind Joshua often felt there was more to the whole story than David was telling or might ever tell; still he decided to just let it all go. If David was not worried about it why should he be? Joshua was not aware that the others shared the same experience and was clueless as to why they all had; David made them promise to never discuss it with Joshua to protect him. David was so convincing that even the others believed it to be fluke and dismissed it. David himself on the other hand knew in his heart there was more to it than that.

Joshua finished his laundry, packed himself a suitcase and headed to Denver to catch the next flight to Rome. The drive from Timber Falls to Denver was a long one so he made sure to bring music to keep his mind occupied. He knew if he didn't he would drive himself mad thinking, wondering, and worrying. He knew he had to keep himself together so that he could be there for David.

The flight to Rome was ungodly long. Joshua had never been on an international flight before. He spend of the trip sleeping. The inflight entertainment was all movies he had seen before and he didn't think to bring a book or his tablet along. Joshua was excited to see Rome, he had never been out of the country and Rome is a place most people only dream about seeing.
