"How are you feeling?"
"Thirsty," I croaked.
"Of course, you are. Here. Small sips, okay?"
"Thank you. Wait, you're..."
"Yeah, I'm me. It worked," he announced.
"Oh thank God!"
"Yeah," he mutters.
"What's wrong?"
"You could have died! Why didn't you stop? Why did you risk your life like that? Why did you risk your life," he gulped and then whispered, "...for me?"
"I promised you," I mumbled, "that I would return you to your body. I'm not one to break my promises."
"So that's the only reason then? You risked your life to honour your promise... based on this principle you hold?"
"Yes."
"For someone you only know for three weeks?" he prodded.
"A life is a life. The duration of time doesn't matter."
"I see. But my life wasn't in danger."
"No? You're on trial for a murder you didn't commit. They would've sentenced you to a life in prison or worse - a death sentence."
"I could find a way to escape," he shrugged.
"Yeah? How? What did you have in mind for your prison break?"
"I... I dunno. I'll figure something out. I would never have asked you to help me had I known it's going to take that much out of you."
"I'm glad you did because if not, justice wouldn't be served and he would've gotten away with it. I can't let you sacrifice yourself that way. I don't care if he's your half-brother, Kaine." I protested.
"You saving me was just an act borne from you being a very passionate advocate for justice?"
"What other reason could there be?" I deflected.
"That's what I'm trying to figure out."
"Can we drop this, please?" I grumbled. "Why can't you just say thank you like a normal person?"
"You're right. I'm sorry. Thank you, Morwenna. I owe you, for the rest of my life probably."
"Hey, you don't owe me anything. Really."
"Really? Not even a trip to a hair salon?"
"Huh? Why would I need to go to one? I don't understand."
"Here. You might want to take a look at your new err.. hairstyle."
"Oh. My. God! Wha-- h-how did this happen?" I shrieked.
"I don't know how but your father seems to have an idea. He saw the whole transformation while it was happening."
"And when was that?"
"Erm... maybe this is a conversation you need to have with him. He'd explain it better, I think. I'll go and call him. Let him know that you're finally awake."
"Finally? How long was I out?"
"Three days."
"What?!? I slept for three whole days? You're joking, right?"
