OLYMPIA, WASHINGTON
JUNE 20TH, 2006

IT WAS almost fourteen years since the death of Reggie Warner, and although things were much better for the Technology Reinforcement; they too had good and bad days just like Leo. For now, everything seemed on top of the world, especially with the successful creations they have made by kidnapping healthy, young people after hacking into their medical history. It was thanks to doctors and nurses who were secretly tied to the Technology Reinforcement.

As expected, time caught up with Vincent Cobbler, transforming him as an old, grey man on the outside. However, the bitter, cold character still lingered in his soul. Maybe no one could recognize him on the outside, but anybody could remember him because of the fruits he bore.

Vincent was in his office smoking another cigarette as browsed through his emails on his computer.

One email was from Dr. Zayn Sevilla, a head doctor for the Technology Reinforcement.

Dear Vincent Cobbler,

I have searched through the medical records of all of my patients at Providence St. Peter Hospital. None of them meet the requirements needed to create D1. I am truly sorry that I have not found anyone. Hopefully we will soon though.

Here's to good luck.

Dr. Zayn Sevilla

Another month of not finding the right person to be transformed to D1. What a shame. This was the fourth month in a row after all.

Things shouldn't be this way. We made a shadow monster for crying out loud! How hard can this be? Reggie asked himself.

All of the sudden the telephone on the side of his desk began to ring. Vincent instantly picked it up, hoping it was his son, Michael. It had been 3 years since Vincent saw Michael. Although those three long years were well used for Michael to be in the United States military, he unfortunately had to drop out after losing a leg in an explosion.

"Hello?" Vincent answered.

"Hey Dad, it's me, Mike." Michael informed with a low-key voice.

"Hey Michael!" Vincent's joy rose, excited to hear from him. "Are you ready to come home?"

"Yeah I'm getting on the airplane pretty soon. I was wondering if you could meet me at the airport and pick me up."

"Sure! I'll be glad to. Don't worry."

Doctor Sevilla entered the office, eager to tell Vincent some exciting news. "Mr. Cobbler!-"

Vincent raised a hand, signaling Doctor Sevilla to stay quiet. "You'll be over tonight? Okay... Alright... See you then... Yeah... Love you. Bye." Vincent hung up the phone, turning to the doctor.

"Michael?" Doctor Sevilla guessed.

The nosiness from Doctor Sevilla struck a nerve in Vincent. It was bad enough Michael had to leave the military early due to one of his legs getting blown off, but it was worse to tell someone about it.

"That's none of your concern, Doctor Sevilla. Whatever happens in my personal life stays personal." Vincent snapped. "What are you doing here?"

Doctor Sevilla sighed, keeping in the snappy remarks he wished to fire at Vincent. "I just came to tell you good news about the D1 project."

Vincent raised an eyebrow, not sure what Doctor Sevilla meant. The D1 project had been on hold for almost 14 years. For something to come to life about it just seemed very odd.

"The D1 project? Doctor Sevilla, that project's a cluster! It's hard to have good news about that!"

"No. Believe me. We found someone for D1. You just have to go and get him. Unfortunately, it's got to be done while the government's knocking down our doors for Mr. Warner's death."

Vincent just shook his head. "The government will give us a pass. We're the Elite, now. Hell, we've been the Elite. Now show me who D1 will be."
