Chapter 3:           History

They walk up the stairs of a big building, its old red bricks have faded and turned brown.  It is three stories high.  Once inside Derek sees a woman up on a ladder.  “Hey.  What up Prof?”  The woman on the ladder jumps down and stands right in front of the front desk.  She is tall, five foot eight to be exact, thin maybe one-hundred and ten pounds, long thick black hair, in which weaved when she jumped, she looks forty with her appearance, but by the way she acts, she only seems like she is twelve.

“Derek!”  Dylan moves up to Derek and punches his shoulder.  “That’s no way to treat this lovely lady.”  Dylan glances over at the lady; he takes his helmet off, puts it under his arm, walks over in front of her bows, and gently kisses her hand.  “Good’ay Miss.”

“Good afternoon Dylan, it’s always so pleasant to see you!”  Her checks become red, from blushing, she looks up over at Derek, her smile is quickly replaced by a frown, she looks up past Derek, and smiles again.  “Master Flame!”  She bows in his presence.  “Wait!”  She stands up straight.  “Where the hell is Stephen?  I thought I saw him with you guys.”

“Evening Ghaois…”  Ambrose pauses.  “I understand if you throw me out, because I had failed you…  Failed you and your si…”

“I don’t fucking care about that right now Ambrose!”  She looks at him with a scowl of disapproval and disgust.  “Right now our fucking top priority is finding Stephen.”  She walks over to him, leans into his ear and whispers.  “I just want to fucking slap you across the face.”

He returns the whisper with one of his own.  “Go ahead and slap me.  I deserve it.”

“Funny you should fucking ask!”  Derek interrupts them.  “That’s why we are here sir.”  He removes his helmet, and places it up on the table.  Ghaois turns around.  “Stephen…”  She takes a step towards him.  “It’s funny that you should ask about Stephen, because that’s why we ca...  OWWW!”  Dylan smacks him in the back of the head.

“I’M NOT A SIR, I’M NOT A FUCKING MAN!”  She begins to yell, while walking over to him, she stands over him as if she is getting taller, and then the room becomes darker.  “I’M A MISS AND GET THAT FUCKING HAT THINGY OFF OF MY TABLE!!!”  She swipes it off the table and on to the ground at his feet.  She waits for Derek to respond, but after four seconds she continues.  “DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME YOU LITTLE SHIT!!?”

“SORRY, SORRY!  I’M SORRY!  PLEASE DON’T HURT ME!”  He cowards, in behind Dylan, Dylan grabs his shoulder, uses it to boost himself over Derek, jumps over his head, grabs him tightly around the shoulder, as if to say ‘you deal with this yourself’.  She stares down at Derek, gives a growl like a troll, and he jumps.  “MISS!??!!”  He finally states, sounding really scared.

“That’s better!”  She turns, walks slowly away from Derek, and resumes her original standing position of being in front of the front desk.  She glances up, “afternoon Drew.”  Her glance passes him and then stops on Jasmine.  “Now Jasmine, please tell me everything that you have seen?”

“Yes of course.  I do not know you, but, if my dad trusts you than I guess I can trust you, too.”  Jasmine begins. “Well, let me see…”

(Stephen)

“Yes!  Finally…”  Stephen says with a sigh of relief, because he finally gets his flashlight to turn on.  He flashes the light in front of him, beside him, and in behind him, trying to get some sense as to of where he is.  “I’m at a beach!”  He takes a second look.  “No…”  He stops to think.  “I’m in a desert, there’s no water around.”  His light goes back out, he sees a blue light coming near him, he takes a couple steps back, the light comes closer faster, he takes a few steps toward it, and the light moves back.  “Who are you?”  There was no response.  “I asked WHO YOU ARE, SO I WANT AN ANSWER.”
