He couldn't believe he had actually done it.
Damian Wayne had quit the Teen Titans and rejoined his father, ready to move back into Gotham City, all so—
"Damian! Watch your back!"
Damian turned, only to take a punch in the face from his opponent, a Man-Bat.
It was attacking Gotham, so Batman and Robin had to deal with him.
While Damian was fighting, he sometimes got distracted by this though.
It kept him up at night. Literally.
He would visit sometimes, but he always felt like he didn't belong. Like... it really was nothing more than a punishment.
But he tried to put it off. He had a job to do.
He rushed at the Man-Bat with his sword raised, slicing off one wing and clinging to his back. Man-Bat screamed in pain and threw Damian off his back.
Damian quickly regained his balance and rushed again, this time his fist raised.
He nearly knocked the Man-Bat unconscious, but it wasn't hard enough.
Thankfully, Bateman came out of nowhere and kicked him in the face, knocking him unconscious.
"Good thing we keep a supply of antidotes," Damian said, walking towards the soldier with a syringe.
As he stuck it in, the man began to turn from a Man-Bat to his normal self.
"Let's get him to Blackgate," Batman said.
Damian nodded, following to the Batmobile.
After the long drive to Blackgate, they got out and carried the man to the police.
As Batman and Commissioner Gordon talked, Damian thought he saw something, but wasn't sure.
In the sky it looked like... Superman, but shorter, and with longer hair.
Whatever it was, it was staring directly at Damian, his eyes glowing angrily red.
What was it?"Ah, welcome home, Master Bruce, Master Damian."
Alfred prepared a meal for the two vigilantes, who had a long night.
But Damian couldn't get his mind off of that thing he saw, or off of one question: what was that thing?
Just as he decided not to tell his father about it, he heard a knock at the door.
As Alfred got it, as always, he heard a familiar voice say, "Hello Alfred. Is Damian here? I have someone I would like him to meet."
"Ah yes, said Alfred, allowing the guest in. "Right this way."
As the guest rounded a corner, Damian recognized him as Clark Kent, a.k.a. Superman.
It looked like a small boy was standing behind him, almost frightened.
Bruce stood up to shake hands with Clark.
"Hello, Clark," he said. Pain noticing the boy, he said "And this must be Jon. Nice to meet you."
Bruce outstretched a hand, but the boy shied away.
"It's okay," Clark said.
And as the boy stepped out, Damian felt a bolt of recognition.
