Sorry for the super-late update! I've been really busy with college but I'm not giving up on this fic. Updates might take a while but I'll do my best to update as often as I can. And yes, I know I haven't mentioned what Harry's job is yet but that's a little surprise that will be revealed soon.
Please comment/vote if you read and liked it. Enjoy! x

Demi's POV
I had a fairly easy day at the day care the next day. I continued to work on the alphabet with the kids and I used the easel with alphabet magnets this time and they really seemed to be getting it. I was cleaning up the station when I heard that familiar chuckle. I looked up and saw Alex in his father's arms and Harry looked right over at me, a huge grin on his face. I couldn't help but notice how he had a dimple that popped when he smiled that big. I felt the heat rise to my cheeks and I smiled back at him.
He walked over to me and smiled softly. "Hey Dem- I mean Miss Lovato."
I smiled at his little flub and pushed a piece of my hair behind my ear. "Hey, Harry."
"So how was Alex today? He didn't give you any trouble, did he?"
I shook my head and giggled as the small boy pouted up at his father. "No, he was perfectly fine. He's been doing particularly well the last few days, actually. He has been doing pretty well with the alphabet, too." I smiled at Alex as he grinned, looking proud of himself.
Harry widened his eyes a bit at Alex, smiling down at him. "That is very good, Alex. Sounds like I should take you out for some ice cream, huh?"
Alex nodded fast, clapping his hands together in excitement. Harry kissed the top of his head, trying to keep him calm as he fidgeted in his arms, obviously eager for some ice cream.
Harry laughed softly and smiled over at me. "The real reason I came over here though was to ask you about that dinner I suggested.." He bit his lip gently. "I have off from work tomorrow so I was thinking you might like to come over tomorrow evening? It doesn't matter what time. You can spend some time with Alex before dinner time." He swallowed a bit. "You know,, if you want. And I can make dinner for around 7."
I blushed a bit, meeting his eyes shyly. I wasn't sure if this qualified as a date or not, considering Alex would be there. I nodded slowly. "Um yeah, that would be really nice. I'd like that.." I smiled at him, feeling nervous but excited for tomorrow.
Harry smiled back at me. "Okay well I will talk to you tomorrow then, Miss Lovato." He winked playfully at me before heading out of the classroom with Alex.
I couldn't help but blush at just how charming he was. I packed up my stuff and headed home, thinking about Harry and what would happen tomorrow was I drove home. I was starting to feel incredibly nervous for the date. If that is what it even was. To be honest, I had not been on very many dates compared to most people around my age. I was 24 years old and the only guy I really dated was Tyler. I had always been really shy and it seemed to turn guys off from me.
I decided that it would be best if I didn't psych myself out though because for all I know, this might not even be a date after all.
I pulled into my driveway and headed inside to get some work done, doing my best to push my thoughts of Harry and tomorrow night out of my head.

Harry's POV
I returned home with Alex after taking him out for ice cream. The stop took a little longer than planned because he got chocolate all over his face and there was a line for the bathroom. I held him in my arms and walked to the front door, finding Louis on the front step.
I smiled softly at him as he stood, handing Alex to him.
"And what do you look so smug about?," he raised a brow at me.
"I took your advice and asked Demi out on a date. We are hanging out tomorrow." I unlocked the front door and let Louis inside as he put Alex down. I watched him run off to go play with his blocks as I gathered up my things for work.
"Does it really count as a date when you're gonna have a child with you?" Louis chuckled softly. "I mean it's not like the two of you will be alone.. I mean unless you want me to take Alex tomorrow, as well. I would not mind it, it is not like you go on dates often anyways.."
I bit my lip gently as I thought it through. Honestly, I wondered how Demi would react if she knew it was just going to be the two of us. I mean when I asked her over, I talked about how she could spend time with Alex. If he wasn't there, that means it would just be the two of us.. alone. Not that I had a problem with that, but I was not quite sure how she would feel about that.
I finally nodded. "Yeah I mean if you don't have a problem with that, I know you watch Alex enough as is. You could come over to pick him up around 6:30 though if you really wanted to."
Louis smiled softly at me. "Not a problem, mate. I just think the two of you will enjoy your date more if there's not a three-year-old there as well.." He chuckled quietly.
"Well thank you, Lou. For everything. You do a lot for me and Alex and I do appreciate it." I nodded at him before walking over to Alex and kneeling down next to him.
"Okay, Daddy has to run off to work now. Be a good boy for Uncle Louis, okay?"
Alex nodded and threw his arms around me, hugging me tight. "I miss you, Daddy.."
I smiled softly and kissed the top of his head. "I'll miss you too, baby boy. I love you and I'll be home tonight. I'll try to be home before you go to bed, alright?"
He kissed my cheek and nodded before going back to playing with his toys. I stood up and smiled lovingly at my son before walking back over to my best friend. Alex really was a blessing to me. I don't know how I ever would have gotten through my wife's death without him. He was all the sunshine I had ever needed. He made the tough days easier to get through and I was incredibly thankful for him.
I patted Louis' shoulder before heading out the door and going off to work, thinking about my son and thinking about the girl I would be having dinner with tomorrow, just to get me through the hours ahead.

Demi's POV
Daycare always ended at 1 pm, so after chatting with Harry for a bit, I headed home and went to go have a shower. We decided that I would come over at 4 and we could just hang out for a little bit before dinner. It took me almost an hour to fully blow dry my hair. I finally decided on a light purple dress and I put my hair up in a high ponytail, applying minimal makeup. I wasn't quite sure on how I was supposed to dress so I figured this would do.
I put on my favorite pair of sandals and headed out the door. I arrived at Harry's not long after, feeling pretty nervous. I knocked on the door and it didn't take very long for him to answer. He smiled softly at me, his cheeks a bit pink. "Wow, you look great," he said to me, opening the door wider for me to come in.
"Thank you..," I smiled at him and walked inside. He was wearing a white v-neck and some dark skinny jeans, a hole in the knee. He was also wearing the boots I usually saw him in and well he looked just as good as always.
Alex ran over to me, grinning wide and wrapping his arms around my legs as if he hadn't spent the whole morning with me. I giggled softly and got down to his level. "Hey there, sweetie. And what are you up to?"
"Playing! Play with me?," he asked me and I nodded, following him off into the living room, Harry following behind us and sitting on the couch. I knelt down on the floor with Alex, smoothing out my dress and picking out a few red and blue blocks, helping Alex start to build a tower.
Harry smiled over at me. "Oh and Louis is coming to pick Alex up before dinner and is gonna spend time with him so it's just gonna be the two of us. I hope you don't mind.." He licked over his lips slowly, his hands folded as he spoke to me.
I blushed hard. Well, that wasn't something I was expecting. "Yeah sure, that's fine." I smiled softly at him, knowing that he probably saw how much I was blushing.
Tonight was definitely going to be an interesting night, that was for sure. At least now I knew it was definitely a date.
