Rewind ten years:

November 20, 2014

Today feels different for some reason, I don't really know why or how but it doesn't feel like a regular day. Because trust me, I know what a regular day feels like. I have butterflies in my stomach and they're nervous butterflies. I put on my school uniform and some natural makeup, and I head out the door, go down the lift and out the apartment building, not forgetting to plug my headphones in first. I press shuffle on the playlist and just let the music take me away.

I get halfway to school, and the girls that pick on me are standing there laughing at something on their phones. Probably the picture I uploaded that weekend.

"look at how ugly she looks!" The blonde laughs.

"I know, her eyeliner is so uneven and her nose looks really big when she smiles." The brunette laughs too.

I walk right past them, ignoring the comments they say about me. I don't have time to listen to their derogatory slurs.

When I arrive at school, I'm greeted by my group of friends;

Tamara, Laura, Riley, Eleanor, Katie, Kiera, Megan, Eithne and Georgie.

They have been my friends since my first day. We share gossip, food, drinks and we laugh a lot when we're roasting someone we hate. But Tamara stays out of it for some unknown reason. Kiera and Eleanor often tell me that Tamara could possibly be jealous of me, but I doubt that very much.

"Erin, are you listening?" Laura asks, waving a piece of chocolate in my face.

"Yeah, I'm just tired and thinking, math is really killing me right now" I reply, taking the chocolate and munching on it.

"I know, it's so annoying!" Riley says from behind us that makes us jump and all turn around.

"Riley! You almost gave me a heart attack!" Laura scolds.

"Sorry babe, you just look cute when you're scared" Riley says jokingly but the way Laura blushes I can tell that them two are more than just friends, and it's cute.

"Ugh, if you wanna be all lovey dovey with each other, go somewhere else" Tamara chimes in and I scowl at that comment.

"Seriously Tamara, do you ever do anything but complain?" Katie slaps her arm.

"Yeah, lighten up a bit will ya, you can be a right bitch in the morning?" Riley's strong yorkshire accent says which makes me laugh and I swear at that moment, Tamara looks at me with flames in her eyes.

"Anyway, did you see what Sianne posted on Saturday?" Laura asks, avoiding the subject. I can tell that she's very sensitive about her sexuality, after coming from very homophobic parents.

"Yes, she looks like a total-" I start but Sianne's voice cuts me off.

"Look like a total what? Go on, say it Erin" She snaps.

"Leave her alone Sianne" Laura says but Tamara smirks, which makes me think that she set this up.

"Why should I? Erin was the one making stupid comments" Sianne snaps, slapping me around the head as she says my name which makes Riley gasp and Tamara laugh.

"I was going to say that you look like a total princess, Sianne. So think before you act, yeah?" I defend myself and Tamara's face drops. She hates me with a burning passion. I think to myself but I smile and Sianne just walks off which earns me a thumbs up from Laura and Riley.
