Rileys POV

JAMES WALKS OVER to me in Java Junction, grinning. "I have good news," he tells me. I furrow my eyebrows in confusion.

"What is it?" I ask him. "You seem too happy for it to be something sane."

"It is sane," he tells me. "And when I have I ever done something insane?"

I arch one of my eyebrows. "James. All the time."

He laughs.

"Well, what is it?" I ask him.

"Remember when I told you I'd think about forgiving you? But we had to let the time come?" He reminds me. I nod. "Well... if your up to it, I think that that time has come."

My chest tightens in happiness, but I try and contain my excitement. "I thought you'd never say that," I tell him, casually, a small smile on my face.

James smiles back and leans in. I kiss him. "I love you," I say quietly.

He hears me, though. I didn't expect a reply, but after a while he says, "I love you too."

But, of course, all had to be ruined by Alfie walking in. He glares at me and then James. He walks over to our table. I feel James get tense and angry.

"You got a problem, mate?" He asks Alfie.

"Kind of, yeah," he snarls. "You're kissing my girlfriend."

I bite my lip. Shit. I knew I was forgetting something.

"Your girlfriend?" James asks in surprise. He looks at me, "didn't you break up with him?"

"Not officially..." I admit.

"Jesus, Riley," i hear him mutter.

"Riley," Alfie turns to me. "Are you really picking him over me? After all he's done to you?"

I don't say anything. I feel myself submerge in panic.

James's facial expression hardens as he glares at Alfie.

I really don't want them to make a scene, here, in the middle of Java Junction, everybody watching. But I can tell they hate each other and that won't end well.

"You better bask away from Riley, or I swear to God," James warns.

"She's my girlfriend," Alfie says, and I realise that by now there's a handful of people gawking.

"Yeah? Explain why she's been kissing me, then," James says cockily.

Alfie lunges at him. They hit and punch each other mercilessly, until two staff members rush over and pull them off each other, and James lip is bright red and his nose bleeding. He has a bruise forming on his cheekbone. "Son of a bitch," he says to Alfie as he dabs at his lip. Alfie is fuming.

But I realise that he looks worse.

I grab onto James's arm. "James," I say, "what the hell was that?"

"He deserved it."

I drag James out of the place. I don't want anymore fighting. But, before we're out the door, I stop and turn around, and say, "we're over, asshole." To Alfie.

Me and James are official.

I know, I know. Pretty exciting, even though it was obviously going to happen. We all seen it coming. But it still feels amazing.

And I haven't seen Alfie since. Some people say he moved again, like he always does, running away all the time. But this time it's a good thing.

And soon I'll be moving in with them. With my job as a teacher at TNS and his same job, we'll make a decent amount of money.

And anyway, we're doing good, really good, miraculously amazingly good, and I couldn't ask for more.

I have him, soon I'll have Hazel. It's pretty perfect. When I look back to hating James and not wanting anything to do with Hazel, I regret it. I still think James should of told me, but I'm not as petty about it. I'm just glad to have a kind-of-family with the boy I love.
