" There's a letter from my mother." Nate said excitedly, opening the envelope. Meanwhile, Dexter was diving into his breakfast.

" She says that we can celebrate Christmas at our home this year... Finally!" he said, as bacons and tomatoes exploded inside Dexter's mouth.

" Gweat-t." he said, trying to swallow at the same time. " I was looking forward to meet your family... I can finally meet a big family other than the Weasley family..."

" Weasleys are amazingly big. Like, cousins have a lot of cousins and siblings and stuff... In our family, we are the only big one. Me, my four sisters, two brothers, my mother and my father."

" Wow." Dexter said, stabbing his fork into his sausages. " I only have Amy."

" ... and, your relationship sucks." Nate unexpectedly finishef the sentence. " Seriously, why do you act like you hate her?"

Dexter rolled her eyes. "Because I do hate her." Nate raised a brow. " Don't make me laugh."

Dexter didn't say anything. He just chewed his sausages, squishy sounds covering his ears. The Great Hall was louder than usual, which made Dexter feel... Odd...

" I really don't understand why you like her... She's like the most annoying girl ever. She never stops giggling and talking." Dexter said. Nate shrugged.

" I think that she's a really intelligent girl for her age and she's pretty lively. She's always kind to everyone, she's helpful, understanding... Why do you think that she's annoying? No-one but you think that she's annoying." he replied. Dexter rolled his eyes. " Amy Nymphadora Lee Protection Squad, eh?"

Nate just laughed. It was good to see him laugh. He was acting so wierd on those days. A melancholic expression was buried into his face.

"Nate, are you okay?" Dexter asked, his face suddenly becoming serious. Nate's angelic smile faded away, that same melancholic expression took the control away.

" Y-Yeah, why?" he stuttered. Dexter scowled. " Don't lie to me... You're strange these days. What has happened? If you want to share it with me- of course. I don't want to force you but, you know, seeing my best friend like this is worrying me, naturally." he said.

Nate didn't say anything, he just looked down and poked his backn with his fork.

" There's nothing to worry about, I must be tired. You know, exams are near. I need to study a lot."

"- Said the genius guy who knew every topic in every lesson better than the teachers did..." Dexter completed his sentence. " Oh please, you already knew these topics when you were what- Seven?"

" Almost eight " Nate corrected him. " And I don't care, studying again is always the best thing."

" Okay, then..." Dexter said, stuffing potatoes into his mouth. " You're perfectly fine..." he said sarcastically.

The unusual noise of the Great Hall was becoming noisier. Dexter looked around the hall to see if there was something strange going on. He only saw students chatting...

" Why's everyone so loud?" he asked, crossing his brows. Nate's raven hair hopped on his wide shoulders when he shrugged. " Probably the news."

" What happened?" Dexter asked, fear painted on his face. "I have no idea." Nate replied. He then squinted his almond shaped eyes, looking for something. He stared directly at a point after a few seconds.

" Merlin..."

He was reading the Daily Prophet over a seventh grader's shoulder. His eyes first got wider, his jaw literally dropped, he pressed his skinny hand on his lips.

" Nate- What happened?" Dexter asked. He looked into his eyes but didn't say anything. Dexter could see his eyes going red. He dropped his eyes.

" Nate?" he asked with a tiny voice. He raised his head a little, his eyes slowly glaring at Dexter. Dexter felt as if he was watching a horror movie- Nate's expression was horrifying.

His eyes were a watercolor painting. He looked pale and purple and red and green at the same time. He looked like he was going to throw up and scream and laugh and cry at the same time.

Before Dexter could go check the newspaper out, Nate borrowed it and gave it to Dexter. He felt as if he was reading an article about his own death.

Well, they were the same thing.

Dexter didn't even read the title of the article. He could barely read the tiny words, as his hands were uncontrollably shaking:

Yesterday, the (old) Minister of Magic ( Mazarow, 2017- 2020) was found dead inside his office by his maid Mafelia Coffla, at 03:34.

" It is obvious that it is a murder." says Proffesor Hewbeak. " Researches should be done."

The new Minister of Magic was chosen as Frederick Graffacia according to the voting. He will officially be the Minister of Magic on November 15th.

The article was done. Dexter was confused. Of course it was horrifying- the murder of Mazarow but why was Nate overreacting?

Nate had always been that one person who overreacted to everything. He really was a cheerful guy but he was always concerned about something.

" So..?" Dexter asked, giving the Daily Prophet back to the students. Nate crossed his eyebrows.

" Don't you understand? He was a Death Eater, Dex. He had always been against... Muggle-borns..." Nate's voice cracked. He was a pureblood but he was oversensitive about everything, so he cared about everyone. He would care more about the others nore than he cared about himself, like most of the Hufflepuffs but he was different.

" Wait..." Dexter finally got what Nate meant. Everything was going to be like in the past... Muggle-borns were going to...

Dexter instantly became speachless. He opened his mouth the say something but he couldn't. He felt like there were iron balls placed inside his throat, rolling inside his body as he moved his muscles and blocked his voice.

" Look, Dexter..." Dexter heard what Nate was saying but he wasn't understanding anything at all... Everything went instantly grey, the whole world...

Dexter felt like he was in a dream or watching a movie. He was not able to sense anything, everything was blurry. The voices, what he saw, the taste of the sausages... They were all muddy, slowly fading away.

He could feel icy cold sweats in his palms, he brushed them on his clothes. He put his hand on his forehead, trying to balance his body. He clenched his eyes and...

Let everything go.
