I opened my eyes and saw a bright light. I blinked a few times to try to see. Once I could actually see, I tried to sit up. I immediately regretted it. My head pounded. Then it all came back to me. Zero day. The cafeteria. Him. Oh God, I thought.

"Honey?", I recognized the sound as my moms voice.

"What happened exactly?", I asked not knowing.

"You fell. Well, you were pushed down.", she said not really answering my question.

Then I heard his voice. "Is she okay?"

I slowly sat up and looked him straight in the eye.

He looked worried, yet not worried at the same time. I don't know how he pulled that off.

"Thank God that you're okay!"

"Really?", I said a little more harsh than I meant it to sound.

"Huh?"

"We literally just met and you run in here and talk to me like you've known me forever!", I half said, half yelled at him.

He looked surprised by my outburst. He's never talked to me, so he doesn't know my personality. He doesn't know me. Not the me that is always quiet in class. Or the me that makes straight A's. The me who is crazy around her friends. The me who will punch you square in the mouth of you talk about anyone I love in a bad way. The me who is determined to beat fate.
