It's been a day since I received the letter about the school and I was expected to be leaving home tomorrow as I was told to be staying at the female dormitaries. It somehow made me wonder how my exam was the cause of the scholarship for such a rich school that even I nor my uncle can afford. "Hey four-eyes! Everyone's talking about you attending a different school. I heard it was rich! Give us some money!" Jackson, the boy who likes to torment people, pushed me. I took two step back as I glared at him through my flawless, round glasses.
I kicked his shin as I walk away knowing he won't do anything to me since the teacher was around. It was great timing for the teacher or else I would've been beaten by him again.
After the day end, I went home to fininsh my packing which I only had a backpack filled with many chocolates. According to that fancy letter, it said that all I need to bring with me were the important things though I don't have anything valuable whatsoever with the exception of my sky blue diamond necklace. As far as I remember, this neckalce had been stuck with me throughout my entire lifetime.
It was really shiny and beautiful considering that the color of it was my favorite. It shines both day and night but I keep it under my clothing sometimes because it attracts a lot of attention.
The next day eventually came and I said my goodbye to my uncle, "Please take care of yourself and follow instructions in the cooking book when you plan on cooking, also make sure you have enough rest and when you get sick, contact one of the neighbors. I have ask them to tak-" before I could talk any further my uncle pulled me into a hug. "Be a good girl. Don't ever let anyone bully you! I'm going to miss you Carmel" he cried, making my way towards the car.
Inside the car was two men who seemed around their late twenties that seems to be wearing some type of uniform. It somehwat sent a chill up my spine. My stomach quietly growled as I ate snickers inside the car. I tried my best on unwrapping the snickers quietly since there was only silence. To my luck, one of the man spoke, "We are almost there"
The car stop infront of a giant gate as two people who seem to be holding real guns were on the lookout for dangers or possibly trespassers. Making our way inside, it was no different from the place outside the gate. Like a city itself.
"Alright," the man not driving started as I look at his direction, "I'm going to explain everything to you. This place is similar to the city outside the gates as you can already see. It is a place for the students who have long graduated from the Academy. Just know that once you have entered the gates, you cannot come out until the age of eighty. Until then, you have to strictly stay here without attempting to leave or escape otherwise you'll be kept in the punishment room or even be executed. Although, the elders who reach eighty years of age are allowed to leave this place or stay and invite family members. Of course, it is entirely up to the inviter wether they tell them about the regulations of this city. Either way, newcomers like you are informed once they entered the gates."
I had many questions fill my head but only one came out of my mouth and it wasn't even a question, "But I was not informed about this" I say, rather calmy, "A family member must have recommened you" he respond, "All my families are dead except my foster uncle. I'm a scholarship student" I said.
"Scholarship? Hmm, that's new."
New?
"Ah, we are here." says he, escorting me out of the car.
The man had explained so much and yes I remember clearly what he had said. One thing that's questionable for me is something about rules related to fighting. I clearly understood what he said but I didn't comprehend what he was trying to imply to. What exactly did he mean? I was going to ask him about his explanation but he held out a paper in front of my face, "Continue to your dorm and you will see a paper. Read that paper. Class will start in sharp thirty-minutes"
This man is weird.
"Who are you?" I finally ask him a question after all the information he gave. "You'll soon find out kid" he says before deciding to leave my sight.
