Kk~Plopping my phone down next to me on my plush bed, I sat up and stretched my limbs out with a tiresome yawn. Hearing satisfying pops, a content sigh left my lips. With a slight grumble, I swung my legs over my bed and took my time getting up.
I was tired as well as hungry due to my idiotic decision to skip dinner last night. Thinking back on yesterday, I couldn't recall much that happened before I got home. It was as if a veil shrouded my memories and prevented me from glimpsing in. This slightly irritated me but I couldn't find the needed energy to truly care.I was tired.
Not even your average day, 'Oh I'm so sleepy! A power nap will do.'
No, I needed hibernation or at least a decent coma. My eyes were sore and blinking rapidly didn't help, rather, it caused an eyelash to attack my E/C right eye. Groaning in irritation, I recalled the dreamless yet restless sleep I had the night prior. I felt unsafe in the room I usually felt comfort in. The confines of my own room felt like my own personal hell whole as the time ticked by; I was driven to the point where I could no longer take the suffocating feeling as well as the mocking sounds of time trickling by. I got up, in the middle of the night, and went straight into my grandmother's room.
To sum it all up, my night was hell.
Yet, I have no clue why I was so unnerved by such a foreboding feeling that seemed to stretch over me like a over-looming threat that awaits for me in the shadows of my room. Questions and the feeling of unease tugged at my mind every second until now. I went back to my room once the sun came up and tried to recover at least a wink of sleep, however, it proved futile as my mind refused to relax and busied itself with various thoughts and questions. Thus, here I am, attempting to get ready for Trick-or-Treating while running on only three hours of sleep. Getting up, I grabbed the white box off my desk and made my way to my bathroom.
'Maybe a quick shower will wake me up.' I thought while closing the bathroom door behind me.Time skip *^*
Walking out of the bathroom wearing the Red Riding Hood costume, I pushed a strand of my now curly H/C hair out of my face. The Red Riding Hood costume fit me perfectly and I didn't necessarily mind it either. I tied the red cloak tighter around my P/C/T form since I knew tonight was going to be a little chilly. The dress underneath came to my knees and was laced in black and the bodice was a white corset with black criss-cross lacings decorating the front. Taking my black boots out of my closet, I slipped them on to my stocking covered feet. I looked in the mirror one last time and nodded in approval. I decided not to add much makeup besides black eyeliner and my trusty lip gloss. Picking up my phone and a small purse, I placed my purse inside a small basket I had found in the house earlier today. Unlocking my phone, I sent a quick text to Angie telling her that I was on my way before putting my phone in the basket and walking out of my room.

"Took you long enough to get here! I thought you weren't coming! It's already 4'oclock!"
Angie stared at me impatiently; her arms folded across her chest while her foot rapidly tapped the ground. I smiled sheepishly which caused her to huff in response and gesture for me to explain my tardiness.
"I'm sorry. My dad stopped me from leaving and gave me a lecture about strangers and not eating certain candy and- "
"Alright spare me from hearing your life story. Let's go!" Bouncing up and down excitedly, Angie called for her little sister Emily. I looked towards the playground, which was to the left of us, to see a little brunette bounding over to us with her pigtails flowing behind her. Her costume was a little ninja which made me chuckle and smile slyly to Angie.
"Couldn't get her to wear the fairy costume could you?" Huffing in annoyance, Angie turned towards me and smacked me on the arm while glaring playfully.
"Ow!"
"No! I wanted her to be my little fairy! Instead, she wanted to be a ninja!" Angie pouted and pushed the dangling bell, that hung from the end of her drooping witch hat, out of her face.
"Do you like my costume? Made it myself!" Smiling cheerfully at me, Angie twirled while throwing her arms up in a sassy manner. Chuckling at my friend, I gave her a once over. Angie was wearing a navy blue dress that reached just past her knees. The top part of the dress was a corset and was outlined with black lace. Black and blue striped stocking followed by black knee high heeled boots covered her feet and legs. Blonde hair was pulled up into a messy bun and black eyeliner adorns her eyes.
"It looks great! I really like what you did with my costume too- "
"Then why didn't you wear it?" Whining slightly, Angie stomped her heel onto the ground and folded her arms across her chest. Dumbfounded, I stared at Angie in order to find any hint of playfulness within her eyes and stance; she had to be joking yet, if she was, she sure as hell can keep one hell of a straight face.
"What?"
"You didn't wear the costume I gave you! Well that one is sort of cute. Not as cute as the costume I made you but it's cute so I'll let this slide just this once~" Sending me a wink, Angie turned towards her approaching eight-year-old sister with a bright smile. I stared at the back of Angie's head blankly.
She had to be joking, right? Wait now that I think back on it-

It was quiet besides the soft breathing of the two of us in the confines of the elevator. Peeking up slightly, I noticed a white box he was holding within his gloved clad grasp. It looked quite similar to mine. 'I wonder what's in it.' I thought as I continued to stare at the item with mild curiosity.
A soft chuckle sounded throughout the elevator which caused me to jump in surprise. Looking up with bemused E/C eyes, I stared at the amused male.
"Aren't you a curious little kitten?" purred the male. The simper that appeared on his face didn't make me feel less embarrassed at the fact that he caught my staring once again.

'I remember something! Could this be what was in that box? I might be over thinking things but still. The box he was holding was similar to the one I was holding and he had an ample amount of time to switch. Oh, but why would he? Maybe because he's a sick bastard? There needs to be a reason if I'm to accuse him of switching it out.' A light tug on my dress pulled me out of my thoughts and back into the real world.
"Hey ___!" Looking down, my E/C eyes connected with large light brown ones which were filled with childlike glee and mischief. I smiled kindly at the adorable ninja in front of me and cheerfully replied, "Hey Kiddo!" Emily giggled before throwing her plastic shuriken at me. I clutched my chest in fake agony and faked a cough before dramatically wailing,
"You got me!" Laughing joyfully, Emily grabbed her trick- or-treating bag from Angie then grasped my hand and tugged me forward.
"Come on ____, Angie! We can't be late!"
"Late for what, small one? We still have a good sixteen minutes before more people start to come out. Let's pace ourselves. Your big sister cannot run in heels," Angie pleaded while trying to grasp her sister.
Little Emily puffed out her cheeks and continued to groan about being late and how us 'big kids' walk so slow. I giggled while Angie grunted in light irritation.
"At least let _____ walk on her own." Emily snorted and rolled her eyes before letting go of the tight grip she had on my hand. Angie and I, without a choice, followed behind the overly excited smaller girl as she began to race ahead of us. Emily was such a sweet and fun yet devious little girl. I can't even recall a day that I've ever seen her sad, which is a good thing. Angie has done well with taking care of her little sister while her parents were gone. When she was fourteen and Emily was turning four, their parents left for a vacation and didn't come back. Cards and letters have been sent but besides that, nothing else. Emily and Angie had to move in with their grandparents, who had recently passed due to an accident. Since Angie was turning nineteen soon and their parent's and grandparent's belongings were now the two girls, they both were able to live without having to be separated. They both had it tough yet still they managed well.
"Hey ____?"
"Hm?" Angie beckoned me closer.
"I got an invitation yesterday in the mail"
"To what?"
"I have no clue." Shrugging her shoulders, Angie continued,
"I didn't read it yet but I have it with me now!" Opening her own trick-or-treating bag, which had a kitten dressed as a ghost on the front, Angie pulled out a black sleek envelope. Turning it over, we both stared at the golden seal which was a capital 'A'.
"Could it be from Andrew?" Angie asked. I shrugged and thought about it. Andrew would probably do something like this. Just thinking about the popular blond dork who had a huge crush on Angie made me snicker slightly which caused Angie to give me a look of confusion.
