Echoes - Silhouettes

I woke up slowly, turning over in her bed. Squinting my eyes from the sun pouring in through the window, I put my hand over my face and looked at her.

Her hand covered most of her face, and her mouth was open, little snores escaping from it.

I smiled to myself.

I dragged my thumb across her exposed cheek, moving the hair away from her face so I could see her better.

She stirred, still sleeping, and I pulled my hand away so I wouldn't wake her up. I looked at her for a little longer before turning away to sit up.

I stretched and yawned, throwing on my watch that I'd taken off the night before.

I got up and headed to her bathroom to piss. I pulled up the zipper on my pants and stretched my leg out, trying to make more room for my crotch.

Damn.

I washed my hands, looking at myself in her mirror. My eyes were puffy, and my hair was sticking up in all directions. I ran a hand through it, failing to control the way it stood up.

I sighed, making my way over to her bed.

I looked at her again, admiring her uncontrollable head of curls that stuck up from the back.

I spotted a piece of paper jutting out from a notebook on the end of her nightstand, and pulled it out. I grabbed a nearby pencil, scribbling 'Good morning, Princess' on the paper and leaving it next to her on the bed.

I didn't want to leave, but I knew in the back of my mind that I had to. I wish I could stay and just hold her, but I had a job to do. It would have to be another time.

I leaned over, lightly kissing her forehead, and quietly made my way out of her room, heading down the stairs.

Silently praying her mom wasn't home, I looked out at the driveway through her living room window to only see her car.

I sighed with relief.

That would've been awkward.

I pulled my uncle's bike out from her backyard and made my way home in the early morning. The sun was barely rising above the horizon, and the air was nice and cool.

I took a deep breath, still thinking of Adrianne sleeping in her bed.

She was driving me crazy. Eventually I won't be able to control myself -

The sound of a car horn behind me stopped my train of thought, causing me to look up and see that the light had turned green. I took off, speeding down the street.

I pulled into the driveway, turning off the engine and putting down the kickstand before walking in.

I stepped in to see Rick getting ready to leave for work. He was putting on his boots.

He glanced over as he heard the door close behind me, still tying his laces.

"Is my bike okay?"

I scoffed. "Yeah. I went out, sorry."

He shrugged, eying his keys in my hand. "The shop called. Your car's ready so you can pick it up today."

"I don't know, I kinda like your bike," I teased, dangling his keys.

He rolled his eyes playfully, standing up. "Just don't scratch her." He walked up to me, patting my shoulder.

"I'll be back later." He walked past me and out the door, leaving a scent of soap behind him.
