"I am not getting on that." I crossed my arms.

"Oh, come on."

I shook my head.

His bike glared back at me in my driveway, daring me to get close. He was already sitting on it, holding his helmet out to me.

I desperately tried to change the subject.

"Where.. where's your car?"

"In the shop." His eyes glinted.

"We can take my car?" I pleaded. His eyes flicked over to my sad little blue sedan, parked safely next to him.

He gave me a look, then spoke again. "Look. I'm a very safe driver. I'm not gonna do any crazy shit." He stuck the helmet out again.

I only looked at him, my arms still crossed.

"What, you don't trust me?" He grinned.

Rolling my eyes, I gave up and snatched the helmet from his hand, huffing air through my nose. I strapped the helmet on, knowing he would never let me live this down.

I got on behind him, not used to the closeness.

He turned it on, and the engine's roar vibrated the whole bike in pulses.

"Just lean with me when I turn, okay?" He called over his shoulder, shouting over the engine.

I nodded, my legs shaking with anticipation. The last time I had been on a bike was with...

He began to back out of my driveway, and I instinctively wrapped my arms around his waist. I knew he could feel my heart thumping in my chest, but I didn't care.

He turned onto my street and picked up speed.

Memories flooded back to me of my dad taking me for a ride on his chopper when I was little, and I smiled to myself.

The wind cut through my shirt, making me cold. A tear sprung up in my eye as he turned onto a main street and stopped at a light, and I blinked it away.

"Wait, where are we going?" I asked him over the roar of the engine.

I could feel the corner of his mouth tug back, even though I couldn't see it.

"You'll see," he responded.

Oh, jeez.

We rode for a few minutes, and I felt myself getting used to the hum of the engine. My legs stopped their shaking, and I smiled as the wind whipped through my hair.

I felt alive.

I loosened my grip on him as he pulled into a parking lot, and looked up to see the front of a bar.

"A bar?" I asked.

I unwrapped my arms from him and took off the helmet.

"Not just any bar. A two story bar." He grinned and pointed, and I looked to see that he was right. The building was huge.

I stepped off the bike, and he stood next to me as we headed towards the building.

"What, you're trying to get me drunk?"

"Oh, no, princess." He laced his arm around my waist, and I almost shit myself. "I have a game."

"A game?" I asked as we stepped inside.

It was two stories, alright.

Off to the front was a huge stage, where a band was playing. There were some people dancing on the floor, but most were standing around drinking and chatting. A set of stairs off to the right led up to the second floor.
