Long ago in the land known as Zaron, there was a village named Shadow Lake Village.. a very simple name for this small village. It is located near a lake, which no light ever shines upon it and the water is forever dark. This gave it the name, Shadow Lake. Many have lost their lives in this lake, staining the mud black, although many legends still bring attention and curiosity to this place.
In this small village are many families and children, always playing and exploring.. but there are some that do more than others. Three children live in this village and are well known between families.. Seige, the youngest of the three. He recently turned 16 and he is the only child of the Monta Family, one of the richer families in the area. Seige is particularly an upbeat fellow who loves adventure, and is usually uneasy about strangers. The Monta Family is mainly held to a higher standard only because of their money, it was through money and the purchasing of goods that Seige met his two friends. Although the way his family makes their money is unknown, rumors have spread that they have shady trades with people from the foreign lands. Luna is 17, only turning 18 in a few months. She is the middle child of three in her family, the eldest being 20 and the youngest 15. Her eldest sister, Marleen, is in line to be the next head of the family and is also a head guard for the K.O.Z. (The Knights of Zaron), and then her youngest, Calamine. Calamine is a curious one, she's always running off to the small library and coming home talking about all the myths and beasts that she saw in books. Her parents however.. always turn it down. Luna however, wishes to be like Marleen, and join the Knights. She is very ambitious and tries hard in the local school. Luna's family in the village are known as the Velvet Family, because of their large trades of fabrics, but their official name is the Stalves. The last of the group is Felavina, and she is a few months younger then Luna. The two grew up together mostly. Felavina met Luna at the market years ago, Luna's family was preparing to sell a new batch of fabrics when one caught Felavina's eye. Soon the two met and talked over the fabrics, this was when Felavina introduced herself as the eldest daughter of the Patamor Family. Her family was particularly affiliated with wine, her mother mostly acted as a waitress and her father would tend to the bar. Seeing how they ran a business, Felavina was usually forced, along with her 10 year old sister Elana, to clean up after the guests and to clean the dishes. Her family is quite strict, often leaving her to sneak away into the forests to draw in her sketch book. She had always wanted to be a tailor, so once she met Luna, Felavina presented her skills and designs to the Stalves Family which in return the Stalves offered her a place and job with them to produce most of the clothes that are now sold throughout the villages and towns.
These three are always seen together in town, and walking to the school house together. After watching the promotion of Marleen, Luna's sister, Seige wanted to join the Knights along with Luna, although Felavina did not like the idea she still supported them and offered to make all of their clothes for when they go into the knights academy. The usual age requirement for joining the Knights Academy is 18, where they train for a minimum of 4 months before officially being assigned a position in the Knights of Zaron, which they would start off as a flag bearer, or a work boy.. unless they showed an exceptional skill in a specific talent, such as blacksmithing, mapping, or healing. Marleen however, was more advanced in swordsmanship then the others in her class, and although she did not show skills in the usual specific talents, she graduated early and sent to the front lines. She is one of the first women of that age to be appointed head guard. Before her, there was a man who was exceptionally talented with a sword, and also blacksmithing. He was passed high into the ranks, and eventually positioned as the lieutenant of the Kings personal Circle of Knights. This man was known as Sir Augness Dermonto. The Circle of Knights is a small selection of well-skilled guards who were chosen to be the personal protectors of the King, and overseers of the cities and villages, next the the Lord's of course.
Shadow Lake Village is also close to a city, called Melidale. Melidale was made popular due to the many merchants and travelers that ventured there for trades and tales, this also became the home of the latest Lord who goes by the name of Holder Belling. This particular man does not usually care about what others think, only what he wants and money.. of course. He's married several times, only to ever bare a daughter whom he never bothered to know and sent her off to the sellers without a name or family. His wife begged him to keep the child but he only cared for a son, thus throwing the wife out as he did the others. Now his recent wife and five others live in a smaller home next to his and are forced to be his maids of the house. Lord Holder is your typical Noble, who thinks he's better than the others, although he does look after the town, but only enough that he remains the Lord, the rest he leaves to the Knights. Few dislike the Knights, but there are still those who resist the ways of the Kingdoms. The Kingdoms are made of many villages and cities, and each own a large portion of land, starting with Zaron, and then you have Kelm, Lamestrus, and Iximnius. Each have their own King and rules, and some even secrets. Zaron however, contains only five main cities.. Melidale, Tezyell, Degon, Agalon, and Bluestone.
Our story startes in the land of Zaron, the land of myths, along with many characters that hold interesting tales and pasts. Three families that could change the world, five cities, a village by the Shadow Lake.. and a Myth that has yet to be revealed.
