It was the usual afternoon in Shadow Lake Village, kids are leaving from the local school house, and a group of Knights were preparing for their nightly patrol. "Alright recruits, gather some supplies.. you all know how long it could be." A females voice boomed over them, as she brushed her wavy burnt-blonde hair behind her and placed her right hand on the hilt of her sword, which was on her hip. "Yes Lady Marleen." The recruits responded with quick nods and slight bows before making their way to the surrounding shops that were closing at dark. Marleen sighed as they walked off. "Ugh, I hope nothing happens tonight.. it's been such a long day.." She thought back to her day, a local thief robbing a trade cart and pulling a knife on her, a loose horse that managed to knock over and almost trample one of the recruits and not to mention some kid skipped class and fell in the lake. Marleen lifted a hand to the bridge of her nose. "Oh Marleen... The days almost over, just a few more hours.." she told herself as three teens walked over to her. "Marleen! Marleen! You'll never guess what happened today!" A girl emerged from the three and ran up to her. The girl had blond hair, and her light-green eyes sparkled up at the head guard, "They told us in class today about fairies!" The girl told her, as her pastel green dress was flowing behind her. Marleen turned to the girl and looked down at her and chuckled. "Well hello there, Luna. Heh.. I remember a little about them, actually I've battled one before." Luna's expression turn into amazement. "Really? How come you never told me this!" Luna exclaimed to her older sister. Marleen just looked down at her and chuckled, as the town bell sounded. The other two who were with Luna made their way next to the two sisters. "Well, it's time for me to head off for the night." Marleen told them, and as soon a Luna heard that, her face changed from excitement to sadness. "Aww.. do you have to.. you never even spend time with me anymore." Marleen didn't reply, instead she just placed her hand on Luna's head and smiled, before she turned to join her recruits that waited by the gate.
After watching her sister walk off to the gate, she then turned to face her two friends. One was a taller boy, he was a curly dark-red head with pale skin and freckles that were plastered on the mid section of his face. His eyes were a soft blue, and when he talked, his voice carried a small crackle with it. Today he wore his usual suit, which was made specifically for school and official purposes. Then the other is another girl who was slightly shorter then Luna and had long brown hair that was in a large braid, and her eyes were a dark green. She wore a long dress, similar to Luna's. "Seige? Felavina? What should we do now?" She asked them as they all looked around at each other. With the bell ringing, it ment they only had an hour before dark, and those under eighteen were required to stay inside. "Uh.. sorry Luna, but I have to get home, my father had something he wanted to talk about." Seige told Luna, and then turned to Felavina. "Y.. yea I have to visit my family tonight, Elana asked me too." Felavina answered, and Luna nodded at them as they waved to each other, leaving Luna there by herself. She sighed, 'I guess I better head home too then..', she thought to herself, slowly turning to head home until she saw a sparkle in the top of one of the trees near the gate, but it soon disappeared. 'What was that?', Luna walked towards it hoping to catch a glimpse of the strange spark of light she thought she saw, but as she got closer, the sky only grew darker. In a saddened frustration, she gave up and made her way back to the cottage her family lived in and went straight to bed.
As the sun rose on the next day, the local roosters were already up and crowing. You could hear the rolling wheels of the recent goods being brought into town, along with a few horses neighing a few paces away. Felavina was already out helping her sister bring in some of the recent wine stock, and Seige was also out early. He sometimes likes to go to the small chicken pens, that are located near the west entrance of the village, to cause a bit of trouble and ruckus. Seeing that the local school house didn't start until noon, Luna had decided to sleep in until she heard a loud bang outside causing her to sit up in her bed, and look out the window. When she could finally make out what was happening outside, she noticed a trunk that had been dropped from a small cart, and two strangers were with it. One was a girl who looked around Luna's age, and another who seemed to be Marleens age. 'Who are they?', she thought to herself as she watched them for a moment. It seemed as if the two were new, and that they were moving into a home next door. The girl turned enough so that Luna could see her, she was a pale skinned girl with dark colored hair, and although Luna could not see it well, she was certain the girls eyes were a deep blue. The man however, was turned away from her, so she could only tell that he had solid black hair, and the same pale skin as the girl. The two wore the same dark colored clothing, although the girls was more of a dress shape. Eventually the two finished bringing their small collection of items inside, and the cart pulled off. Everything was settled once more, the village returning to its usual routine and Luna decided to finally get up to get ready, after all she had to help set up shop with her parents. After she was finished, Luna was allowed to walk around the streets of the village carrying samples of silk and fabric in order to gather customers, and during her rounds, she would pause everytime in front of the house where she saw the new people.
'Who where they?'
'Where did they come from?' 'Are they a couple?'
So many questions ran through her head, until the girl walked out, and Luna froze.
