At the time Killian was dating Emma 'the SAVIOR' whatever that means, but they where going through a rough patch in their relationship when everyone arrived; this only made things worse. They were arguing about Emma sacrificing herself to save everyone, so Killian went to Katherine for help. Katherine didn't want to help him with his girlfriend problems and nor did she want to help the person she couldn't stop thinking about so she said
"I'm sorry but not even the strongest of magic can help with relationship problems!" she thought to herself 'unless you are me of course' and then in a flash she realised what she had said and so did Hook. He asked
"wait you have magic?!" and Katherine replied with
"yes...but i didn't want you to find out" and Hook asked the simple question
"why?"
Katherine, without thinking, said
"because i don't want you to be scared because i'm the strongest witch in any realm, even more powerful than 'the dark one!" she pause andthen shouted
"Wait...I didn't mean to say that, you cant tell anyone not even Emma!" Hook just stared open mouthed and calmly said
"i'm not scared of you. I think you're lovely!" She lifted her headand gazed wondrously into his eyes and he did the same. Hook then slowly lent in to kiss Katherine and so she did the same, but then suddenly she stopped. Katherine was still in shock but managed to say
"we cant, you have Emma." he carefully caressed her cheek with his hook and said in a soft voice
"i know, I'm sorry. But i don't think me and Emma will last much longer, besides i think i like you!" and he stood up and left still looking guilty.
