AN: Hey Guys, I'm so sorry for not posting any chapters and putting this story as well as the other ones on an unplanned hiatus. So for the new year, I've made it my resolution to write and finish this story as well as the other ones that you've probably read. I truly and deeply apologize for my absence, so I decided to post this New Year special and the new chapter as a token of apology and I wish you all a Happy Late New Year!!!!

Audri added a few finishing touches, placing yet another bobby pin to keep her thick hair in place. She takes a step back and nods in approval, a white neck-strap cocktail dress, silver ankle strap heels, hair tied up in a messy yet simple bun with two small strands of hair framing her face. Picking up a small black purse, Audri heads to the door. But before she was even within 4 metres from the door, she turned abruptly and made a bee-line towards her room, quietly hitting herself on being so forgetful.

"That was too close."

After slipping the all too precious accessory from Kid, a quick glance at her watch caused her to speed out the door. She cursed under her breath and stumbled through the hallway, scrambling to grab her possessions and composure. Just as she pulled open the door to come face to face with Kid, he held his hand out, stopping Audri in her tracks.

"Whoa-"
"3 more minutes."
"W-what?"
"3 more minutes until you're 8 minutes late."
Looking up from his watch, Kid turned Audri around and pushed her back inside the hallway.
"Wait a secon-"
"3 minutes!"
And with that he closed the door.
"Oh for goodness sake!"

She stood there for 2 seconds in frustration before turning around and rattled the doorknob. Upon realising that it was locked she banged on the door, shouting profanities. On the other side of the door, muffled versions of her shouts could be heard as the party quieted down. Liz sighed in annoyance as she walked over to the door, heavily barricaded by Kid.

"Kid, let her in."
"B-But-"
"Kid..."
"I-It needs to be 8-"
"Oh my god, Kid just let-"
"Liz if you're my friend, then you would let me do this."
"And unfortunately, I'm her friend as well. Now let her in."

Reluctantly, Kid stepped away from the door and unlocked it. Letting the slightly enraged Audri into the room.

"Thanks for finally opening the door Kid."
"You're welcome..."
A gentle smile appears on Audri's face as she ruffled his hair playfully.
"C'mon, lighten up a little Kid. It's a party after all."
"...fine..."

Audri smiles and quickly joins the others, leaving a pouting Kid to fix his hair. Soon, minutes turned into hours and the anticipation rose through the roof as the new year closes in. Audri stood onto the balcony, gazing at the illuminated city infront of her as her mind swirled with thoughts.

"Penny for your thoughts?"

Audri looked to her side to see Kid as he calmly joined her on the balcony. She let out a small chuckle as she turned back to the view.

"Something like that, I'm just thinking mostly."

"What about?"

"Well, everything really. I still can't wrap around my head that 10 years has past already...Justin's a Death Scythe, Professor Stein's a teacher, and...you're a student of the DWMA.... Everything's changed so much and I...I just feel out of place...like I don't belong any more..."

"That's not true, I mean sure things may have changed, but it doesn't matter anymore. You're here now and that's all that matters. You may feel as if you don't belong, but you do. You belong here, with the DWMA, with Death City...and with me."

Feeling a lot better, Audri smiled as she interlocked their hands together before she looked back to the city. The night sky filled with bursts of fireworks as cheers of joy rang out behind them.

"Thank you Kid, for always being there for me."

Kid smiled as he too looked towards the sky now painted with fireworks whist gripping onto her small delicate hands.

"Anything for you, Audri."
