Am I dead? Chapter 1

"Zack wake up!"You have to go to school!" I looked at my clock on my night stand, five in the morning. I got out of my bed still a little dizzy and tired. I started thinking about a very special draft I'm working on, when a horrible sound started inside of my head. Piiiiiiii! "Ahhhhh, mom my chip is broken again!" I said louder than I want to. "Again? I can't believe it!, we went to fix it last week" said my mom a little stressed. " Yeah I know, but it is making weird sounds again, that is not my fault I couldn't brake it, it's inside my head mom" I said irritated
"I didn't said you break it, and don't talk me like that, I am your mother"
"Whatever" I got in the bathroom and started to get ready. I went down the stairs very fast considering the small of my apartment so I almost fall down on top of my neighbor favorite plant.
Zack!
Someone screamed behind me.
It was my girlfriend Maddy and my best friend Zhao.
"Hey dude how are you doing" said Zhao excited.
"Not so well" I fight with my mom just a moment ago"
-You are probably thinking why am l so worried about my mom fight thing, because every child fights with their mother almost everyday, but this was different, I have the feeling that I'm not going to see my mother in a long time. And sadly I was right.-

"Come on Zack, or we're going to lost the our Transhour" said Maddy impatient. "Ok, but what about my morning kiss" I said.
"Mmmm lets get to school early and then we will see, Mr Broken!"
"I'm still confused, why do keep saying Mr Broken to Zack since we met, I really don't get it" said Zhao annoyed.

Zhao sometimes is a little slow in processing everything, I really don't know how he passed ninth grade.

"Oh I think I get it, it's because Zack's chip is always broken" None of us answer. "Ugh, come on, hurry up" Maddy said in frustration.

We started walking towards the TransSub when suddenly Maddy's twin brother called "Hey Sis!"
"Why did you didn't wait me, we could have go together, it's not like you are avoiding me"
"Don't called me Sis Luke!"
"I already told you I don't like it" said Maddy.
"So how do you want me to call you; Maddison"
"Ahhhhh, you are so annoying" said Maddy grabbing Luke's ear and walking towards the TranSub, just like a mom with her kid.
"Ouch, ouch, ouch!" said Luke painfully.

Finally we were inside our transport. The TranSub.
I chose the capsule next to a boy with no more than six years, he has blonde hair like mine and green eyes. It was like seeing me but younger, the boy looks terrified, it's possibly his first time traveling. So I decided to talk to him."Hey guy, I'm Zack what's your name?"
The boy maybe thinks that I'm not talking to him, but then he said: "Mmyyyy name iis Cody"
First I think he was so nervous he couldn't talk but then I realized that he's a stutter.
"Heyyy Cccody areee youuu nervous" said some kid next to Cody. "Ha, ha, ha, ha" someone laugh behind Cody.
"Leave him alone" I said. "Why do you care" said the kid who was bothering Cody.
"That's none of your business"
The bully looked at me in the eyes and then he said:
"Ok, I will stop, see you tomorrow Cccodyy" and with that last insult the boy went back to his capsule.
"Don't pay them much attention" I said to Cody.

"Do you want me to explain how the TranSub works."
He nodded
"Ok, then here it goes."
"Do you know that 54 years ago there was a nuclear war?"
"Yes"
"Well that almost destroyed the whole world. " So... "
Before I could finish my sentence Maddy came. "Hi" she said waving her hand to Caleb.
"I am telling our history to Caleb"
"Oh, I love that story" said Maddy excited.
"So, like I was saying, the governments that left create Enoménos" as soon as I pronounce the last word her expression change completely.

Four years ago, Maddy escaped with his brother Luke when they were twelve. They used to lived in Enoménos, their parents Mr Britt and Mrs Britt have a lot of power and influences in the government, that's one of the reasons they escaped.

Cody was confused,
his expression says that he knows something is happening, but he doesn't know what.
"Yes" said Maddy breaking the uncomfortable silence.
"Enoménos it's not only a government it's also a state, one of the richest state of the world."
Another uncomfortable silence.

"Hhooww do you knnowww so much about Enominos" said Cody.
"Enoménos" corrected Maddy.
"And it's because... I was... born there"
"Ohh wow" said Cody in amusement.
"Hey yoouuu arrrre Maddison Britt, twwwinn of Luke Britt" said Cody.
Maddy squeeze her lips so hard that they looked like one line.
"Yes" Maddy said awkwardly.
"So, let me explain how our micro chips work in union with the capsule" Maddy said trying to change the topic.
"Our chip it's made with a special material that connects with the capsule, so when you travel our body is separate in billions of particles and then it's reform to its original form when you get to your destination"
"Ohh I sssee" said Cody fascinated with the explication Maddy just gave to him.
"Anddd do it hurtsss" said Cody.
"Ha, ha, ha, no it doesn't" answer Maddy. "But you feel..."
Suddenly the capsules started moving and shaking. "Ahhhhh" Cody screamed.
"Whattt ittttss happeninggg" Cody said already crying.
"I don't know, I think"
But before Maddy could end, three capsules next to her explode leveling almost three people lying on the floor unconscious.
"Maddy!" I screamed. "I'm ok, we have to get out of here!" said Maddy very loudly for our distance, maybe she's still a little deaf because of the explosion. "Pleassse tttake mmme with youuu" said Cody still crying.
"Yes we won't let you here alone, come on Cody" I said trying to sound calm, but the truth is that I was terrified.
"We have to find my brother and Zhao" said Maddy shaking.
"Yes I think I know where are their capsules" I said.
I took Cody's and Maddy's hand and started running forward towards Zhao's and Luke's capsules, but something went very wrong.
Another capsule exploded close to us but this one was close enough to hurt us. I felt like I was on fire, I never felt so much pain in my life. And suddenly everything was dark. My first thought:
I am dead, but I heard a voice that almost kill me (well more than I already am) it was the voice of our president Aetos Green.
But what is he doing here, I mean wherever l am, he is only present in special occasions, and I think my death is not one of it.
"Look there is a boy here" someone said, I think it was Aetos'.
"Do you think he's dead" said another voice I didn't recognize.
"I hope he's, because if he's not, his chip might have a big damage, and we don't have time to fix it" said Aetos.
"Look there are two more, a girl and a boy" said the voice.
Maddy and Cody I thought, they are death as well? I don't know.
"Come on fools too much deaths for today, I think am going to throw up" said Aetos.
"Oh, gross" said the voice.

"Zack!"
"Hey, come on they're gone now"

It was Maddy, she was calling me.
I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was Maddy's brown hair on the floor, she was next to me.
I tried to stand up but I fall down. Maddy help me this time to stand up, and I made it without falling again.
Instead of saying something like thank you Maddy. I said something really smart like:
"Hey, I'm not dead."
"Of course you're not Zack!" Said Maddy.
"Hey, where's Cody?" I ask worried.
"I'm herrre" answer Cody.
"Are you ok?" Maddy asked to Cody
"Yeah, I'm finnne."
I helped Cody to get up of the floor and we ran outside of the TranSub.
"Maddy!" Someone screamed, it was Luke's voice.
"Thanks god, you're fine" said Luke worried.
"Where's Zhao?" I asked.
"He's fine. Who is this kid?" said Luke.
"Luke, Cody, Cody, Luke" I said presenting them.
"Hellllo" said Cody.
"Hey, he's a stutter" Luke said looking at Cody.
"Why you have to be such an idiot sometimes" said Maddy pinching Luke on the arm."Now, apologize to Cody, and tell him that it's nice to meet him" said Maddy still pinching Luke's arm
"Ouch, I will, but stop" he complained.
"Mmmm Cody, my foolish brother needs to tell you something" said Maddy.
"Oh, I do?" said Luke.
"Yes you do" Maddy answered.
"Cody it's nice to meet you and... what else, oh yes, and I am sorry if I made you feel bad"
Sometimes when I'm feeling bad, the fights between these two twins make me feel much better.
Since Maddy and Luke escaped from their home, Maddy have always acted like a mother with Luke, maybe is for the reason that for the age of sixteen Luke is still very immature.
"Better, now come on Cody where going to find your family" said Maddy
"Bbbbut, therrre is a ppproblem" said Cody.
"And, what is it Cody" I asked.
"Mmmy parents are d...dead"
