Okay so this is a heavy topic in the art community:

Is it okay to use bases? Is it okay to copy art as a beginner?

Okay many probably won't agree with me, and I'll probably phrase this horribly and get lots of hate.

Okay firstly, bases are okay. If you're a beginner: yes! But once you know the basics of drawing I would stem off that shit. Bases are helpful in many ways, they can help to improve your coloring skins and sometimes maybe drawing skills like hair wise and clothing wise. I see no reason to hate if someone uses a base properly meaning: they use the base to try and help them improve, not just because they're "lazy", they tag the original artist if they decide to post it (which I don't recommend), and they overall enjoy the work they produce and see improvement!
Now onto copying artwork, it is okay for beginners just never EVER POST IT. Even if you tag the original, don't claim it as you own just use it as a practice tool. Study what you like about that person's art style. Don't steal it but try and stem off of what you like about it and add it into your own art style! It'll help you improve so quickly I can't even describe it! Once again though, if you copy a whole piece of artwork don't claim it as your own and don't post it! Just practice practice practice!
