40 minutes left and I'm free. All that stands between me and adventure is gym class. Yay. At least we're playing badminton. I love badminton. It's the only thing better than basketball. We filed into the gymnasium and got changed. The teachers gathered us around the benches, and we all sat down, girls on one side boys on the other. One of the teachers-Mrs. Paukstat-started talking.
"We're going to play badminton today. Quick 5-point doubles matches." We all shot looks to our friends, silently choosing partners. Then she dropped the bomb. "It's going to be mixed doubles. And girls pick their partner." Shoot. I here I thought this would be fun. I gave my friend a forlorn look. Paukstat blew her whistle, and it started. The girls stood up, and all the boys looked at the ground, avoiding  eye contact so as not to be picked. There was less girls than boys, so whoever didn't get picked got to chose each other. For a few seconds nobody moved. None of the girls wanted to be the first to pick someone, but they knew they would lose their choose if they waited too long. Finally, one of them moved, and the rest followed. Everyone got into groups, and eight of the wheat to the four nets to start. I was lucky enough to be one of the first people playing. I was with Terrin (we both "forgot" to put something away in the change room), so I was pretty confident. Not to brag or anything, but I'm pretty good at badminton. He's ok. Ish. We were playing the girl who was teasing me this morning and her friend. She gave me a playful glare, and served the birdie (birdie or shuttlecock?). We rallied back and forth until it hit the ground on their side. The lead went back and forth between us right up to the final point. It was 4-3 us when to birdie was slammed right at me. I swung for it, but it was in an awkward spot, and I missed. It flew straight and true, and hit my chest. It felt as if it was shot out of a gun. The breath was knocked out of me and I fell. I couldn't think straight. I was panicking, trying to get air back into my lungs. There was a taste like old pennies on the back of my tongue, I heard a prolonged note, ringing in my head. Frantic voices were all around me. Someone was talking.
Don't lose him! C'mon Aidan, you can do it. Come back. There was a hard shock, and I could breath. The strange noise slowly turned into a consistent beeping. I stood up slowly, and looked around. It was as if nothing had happened. Everyone just continued to play, either not noticing or not caring. My partner was looking at me, waiting for me to be ready. And then it hit me. It's a dream. Nobody's gonna care unless I make want them to care. Then the bell rang. Everybody ran to get changed, and I forgot all about it. (No I didn't, I just pretended to. But same dif). My friends and I ran to get outside, and went our separate ways. I walked on the bus, thinking how weird this day had been

A/N cool. Three whole chapters. Didn't think it would make it this far. Chapters might start getting shorter from now on. I'm getting lazy.
