What to tend to first? 1. The ruined make-up or 2. the big, cerise-colored stain that was slowly becoming more distinguishable? The legs, [Name] decided. She fished a small pack of wet wipes from her purse and quickly removed the sweet-scented traces from her thighs before it could trickle any lower. It felt so much better with the sticky sensation gone.

Next, [Name] tried to rub the color off in an attempt to make it less observable. While she minded her rubbing, [Name] heard the bathroom door open as a young woman scurried in. She teetered towards a bathroom stall and opened it precipitously. At this point, [Name] looked back into the mirror to study her progress. “What a goddamn idiot!” a voice wailed from inside, followed by a long sniffle. The door swung again and another pair of heels scraped the tiled floor; a girl with pigtails crossed the reflection in the mirror and knocked on said stall door. [Name] was on the point of telling her it’s occupied when the wailing woman cried out, “Leave me alone!” “It’s me!” the Asian female replied, “Come out please! It’s not the end of the world...”

The wailing woman’s sole comeback was a dispiriting whimper. The doorknob was twisted gingerly and she finally stumbled out, mascara smeared all over her cheeks. “God, you’re a mess,” the Asian murmured, “oh! You’ve got wet wipes?” she inquired, eyeing our protagonist with doe-like eyes. [Name] stammered awkwardly, “Yes! Here you are…” and she handed one over. “Thanks.”

“…he’s an idiot,” the wailing woman cooed, “...he was with someone else and not me! I trusted him!” then she was bawling again, her face red and distorted in an unattractive grimace. The Asian woman purged her friend’s cheeks and added with a smile, “Don’t be like that... I bet he’s got an explanation.” “I don’t even care―!” her friend countered, eyes wild like she was rabid. [Name] swallowed thickly.

“What time is it?” the Asian girl asked casually.

[Name] reached out for her cell phone to discover that she’s received a message. She read the clock out loud and frowned at the unread SMS. “Oh no,” the pigtailed girl cooed, “we can’t miss the show!”

“But I don’t want to go back there!”
