Chapter 3
Escape
Jackson's POV
I loved her. I knew it as soon as I looked at her but of course that's how it works, for us anyways. I remember the night I brought her here. It was cute how she tried to run and I still feel bad about the crossbow indecent. "Jackson?!" someone shouted into my ear. I turned to see Jacklynn my best friend staring at me. "I know what your going through but that doesn't mean you can ignore me," she snapped and I smiled at her "sorry." I said standing up "we'll talk later, I have to go check on her." I said before walking back inside and to Raziel's room.
Raziel's POV
Its been a week since I've arrived and I'm still kinda clueless as to whats going on. Apparently I'm a demon because demons and angels exist. If I didn't have wings coming out of my back I wouldn't believe. My thought process was interrupted when I heard the door of my room open and close. I turned to see Jackson walking up to where I was sitting on the floor. "So when can I leave this room?" I asked annoyed. I hated not having any freedom and when I can't leave my own room I feel like I really don't have any freedom. "I'm sorry but you'll have to wait a little longer before your allowed to leave," he said and I tried my best to resist the urge to attack him. "Do you know when I will be able to leave?" I asked and he just shrugged "I have no clue," he said which only made me more mad. "Can you just leave." I demanded more than asked and he looked like he wanted to say something but he just walked out of my room instead.
I've got to escape. I thought about this as I searched the entire room for anything I could use. I'll have to do at night when everyone's asleep. It seemed like forever before it was finally dark out. I had one window in my room, a small one that was high up on the wall very close to the ceiling. I moved the metal dresser over to the window but it wasn't high enough up so I managed the lift the nightstand on top of the dresser. I was worried about guards so I flew up to the ceiling and broke off one of the blades on the ceiling fan. I realized I couldn't break the glass with my bare hands so I looked around the room for something to use. I grabbed the blanket off my bed and covered myself with it before using the wooden blade off the fan to smash the glass. The glass made a loud sound as it shattered. I knew that the walls were pretty thin and that someone would hear the glass shattering. So earlier in the day I pulled out the strings from the mattress of my bed and managed to intertwine the springs in the mattress to make one giant spring. I put the spring on the edge of the door so that whenever someone opened the door it would hit the wall and close it before they could run out. I wasn't sure if it was going to work since I couldn't test it out but it was better than nothing. I didn't get to knock off all the glass before I heard footsteps outside my door. I quickly jumped through the window and winced as I felt the glass from almost all sides slash against my skin. I ignored the pain and crawled out the window making sure none of the glass touched my wings, I was going to need them. Once I was outside I heard the door open and Jackson yell my name but I that only made me run fast into the familiar forest. I smiled as I realized nobody was outside to guard and I when I reached a clearing I jumped. I flapped my wings faster than I ever did before and soon I was up in the sky far above the trees. I flew for a long time it was like a road trip but in the air, with wings of course. I landed safely on the ground when I reached a familiar house, my aunt and uncles house. The house I grew up in.
