"Never trust a survivor until you find out what they did to stay alive."

"Why do you always say that?"

"Because I like it, why else would someone repeat something over and over dummy. Now hurry up and finish we gotta get out of here, I think I can hear someone coming!"

"Well, then go check it out! You're the psychiatric, do your part and evaluate the situation."

"Fine." I walk over to the doorway, peering out slowly. As I look out I see five military guards coming my way, I run over to Callie. "You better be finished with that because we have to go now!"

"I'm done! Now boost me up."

"Boost you up! What are you thinking?"

"Im thinking out of the box, and judging by the way you ran over to me and the way you're rubbing you nose right now, its something big. So me and you are going to crawl through the vents and get to the roof without ever letting our feet touch the tile flooring. You in?"

"Of course I'm in. I would never pass up an opportunity to crawl through vents with you!"

"Good! Now give me a boost!"

Callie steps into my hands as I boost her up onto the cabinet, I watch as she pulls the vent out of the wall.

"Can you get up here yourself or do you need assistants."

"I'll be fine. Just move out of my way."

Lifting my leg to rest my foot on the handle pulling myself up onto the top of the cabinet in crawl into the small vent with Callie.

"Don't forget to close the vent back up!"

"I know."

"I just wanted to make sure since last time you kinda forgot to close the door and lock it in the apartment."

"Get rid of that smirk. It was a first and last time thing! I didn't mean to do it you asshole. Now get your ass out of my face!"

Callie and I start moving through the vents when I heard something rip.

"Please don't tell me that was my pants..." I sigh and look back with closed eyes, hoping and praying that it wasn't. Once I open my eyes, I notice right a way that I have a huge tear on the side of my leg. I reach my hand down to hopefully pull the fabric together and pin it with the safety pin in my pocket. Almost instantly I regret putting my hand down there, this is only because of the warm liquid that I touch.

"OH MY GOD!"

"What? Whats wrong?"

"I think I'm bleeding."

"How?"

"I don't know! All I know is that scraped my leg on the side of the vent and I thought I just ripped my jeans so I reached down to fix it and I felt something warm on my leg..."

"Ok well then lets just stay calm and we'll figure it out together. But you have to stay quiet or they will know we're here. Now can you move you leg?"

"Yes."

"Are you able to crawl till we get out of the vents?"

"I think so."

"Ok then, so do you want to go first or stay behind me?"

"I'll stay behind. Im good!"

We continue through the vents, my leg throbbing with pain. I don't want to say anything to Callie because if I do she will insist that we stop and take a break but we don't have time for that right now.

"I see some light!" I see Callie pointing up ahead, but since Callie's big butt is in my way I can't see anything. "It's about two to three feet ahead of us!"

We finally reach the light and we see that it's an opening to the rooftop. Callie pushes the vent gate open and hops out of the vent. Helping me down we take this time to inspect my leg to see what kind of damage we have to work with.

"Is it bad?" Im super squeamish when it comes to blood. I can't stand it, and luckily Callie doesn't mind. To much that is.

"It doesn't look to deep, but I could be wrong. There is a lot of blood but I think I can stop the bleeding some." See rips part of my pant leg some more, since it is on the lower part of my shin the pant leg is just enough to tie around my leg and to keep pressure on it.

"Thank you!"

"Anytime! Now can you stand?"

"I think so, I just might need a little help getting up." I laugh as Callie puts her arm under mine and I swing mine of her shoulders. I stand on one leg for a few seconds before I attempt to stand on my other. I slowly let my foot touch the ground, feeling a touch of pain I push it to the back of my mind. "I think I'll be ok."

"Are you sure it doesn't hurt?"

"I'll be fine until we get home." I watch as Callie glances down at my leg, she knows that I'm lying. I was never able to get anything by her, I think thats why she's my best friend. "Callie I promise, I'm fine." I give her a small smile. "Now lets get the hell of this roof."

Callie and I make a dead sprint to the to other end of the roof knowing that we can't waist another minute. We make it to the other side and see a ladder, only to notice that it doesn't reach all the way to the ground.

"We're gonna have to jump the rest of the way, you know that right?" Callie hates heights, I'm not fond of them myself but they don't scare me the way they scare Callie.

"Ya I got it. Lets go!"

I go first down the ladder, even with my bad leg I will be able to do it faster. And with me on the ground it wont look so scary to her. Hopefully. My feet touch the last rung and I let myself drop, knowing that I need to brace myself for the impact I keep my body lose. I hit with a thud and fall straight on my butt. I look up to see Callie on the last couple rungs, she looks terrified.

"Callie! It's ok! I'm right here, you just have to drop down I'll catch you!" She lets go and I grab her legs and she slides down me and lands on her butt. "Sorry, it wasn't a perfect landing but it was better then mine!" I smile down at her, she jumps up and grabs my hand.

"Thank you! Now lets go!"

We run to the tree line and sprint through the woods. Since me and Callie have an IQ of about 372 combined, we both have photographic memories. So to dumb it down we can remember everything we have ever seen or will see. Callie and I run the path through the woods until we reach our car, I jump in the drivers seat and start the engine while Callie hops into the passenger seat. I start the engine and we speed a way in a cloud of dust. The U.S. government won't know what hit em.
