This Isn't What I Expected
As we all walked down to the lake, I found myself looking around at them all. They look so happy when they're together. Like they're their own kind of family. I wasn't expecting to laugh at Jeff's terrible jokes, or E.J's snide comments.
I was enjoying myself while I was with them.
I felt Jane poke my side, making me squirm in Jeff's grip. "What was that for?" Her beautiful curly black hair bounced as she walked with her long legs in a proud stride. She laughed at my sudden squeak before she answered.
"Having fun yet, Carter?" My stomach twisted as I looked down at Jeff's back. "It would be a lot more fun if I wasn't being carried like a bag of sand."
"Give him a nut shot. I'm sure he'd let go then."
My face turns bright pink as I glare at her, "No you idiot! That would really get me killed." I try to reach down his back to try to fall to the ground, but his grip only tightens. "Besides, it's not like he can hold me forever."
"Don't doubt that, Cart. I'm sure if I really wanted to, I could hold you forever." Jeff jumps into our conversation. I poke his neck. "Whatever. Why can't I walk on my own?"
"You can barely walk in general. Plus, your prince in shiny blood is here to murder the motherfuckers that kidnapped you. You should be happy."
Not one person would ever think about doing so if he was trying to kill them. Especially if it were me. I'm not worth fighting for.
I sigh and begin to push away from him, "Seriously, Jeff. Let me down."
His blue eyes looked at me with persistent curiosity. "And if I refused?"
"Jeff..."
"What?" He asked innocently.
"Please?" I say, he sighs deeply before setting me down and grabbing my hand. "Fine, but I'm not letting none of these fuckers touch you."
I smile slightly as I mutter a thanks.
Jane laughs at Jeff and pulls me away easily. Jeff growls, but she just seemed to be unfazed by his terrifying eyes.
Seriously. I swear he's just like a kid. Sometimes I think he even thinks like a kid. Until it comes to his dirty jokes or his swearing. Then I'm either utterly disturbed or innocently killed. Although, he is a good person in general. He may not look it, especially if he's glaring at you, but deep down, he's just a ratchet awesome person.
"So, there is this rope that we usually swing into the water with, but it's a couple feet off the ground so I hope you don't mind."
I shrug, at least it isn't like jumping off a cliff. "As long as it isn't higher than ten feet. I'll be fine."
She smiles. "What, you afraid of heights?" I look away.
"Just a bit."
"Look, Daddy, it's a turtle!" A soft manly chuckle echoed off the cave walls.
"Yes, indeed it is."
I wondered if I would ever be able to touch that turtle. Even if it were under merely water. "Hey, Daddy? Why can't it be like this forever?"
A pair of Redish brown eyes glared at me. "Because I don't have time for nonsense."
I look down. "Lets leave, Carter."
With that, I was shoved into the water, letting me fall for two minutes. 75 feet down into water.
I gasp as I stare at the clear water. It was beautiful. You could see everything in it, the rocks, sand, the weeds that grew on the bottom of the floor.
"It's... amazing." I found myself saying.
"Wait until you feel it." Toby said while he ran in. The water hit his crystal like skin perfectly. I blushed as everyone jumped in, leaving me with Slender.
He looked down at me, already sensing my fear and uncertainty. "It won't be like that, they've already excepted you as their family." I swallow the lump in my throat. "I know, I'm just... I don't know."
The way they all look at each other, is different then the way they look at me.
"Is that such a bad thing?" I snap my gaze up at Slender's blank face. I dislike the fact that he can read me like a book. I shake my head with a gentle smile.
"I haven't felt this happy since my father..." I look down. Should I ask for Slender to erase my memories like he did with most of the others? No, I want to keep my memories, even if they drive me insane.
I could feel the warm feeling he was sending to my mind, so I huffed and laughed at him before walking into the crystal clear water. It was oddly warm, as if it were straight from a hot spring. I sigh and push my way deeper in the waters.
My face begins to turn red from the heat, and I can sense the others staring at me. "Jane, jump, jump, jump!" Sally laughs while shoving Jane closer to an edge. I look up and gasp, Jane was standing on a cliff that stood around 100 feet tall.
The world suddenly started spinning. She isn't going to jump, is she? That'll kill her.
Jane laughs while looking down, "Give me a head start, okay?" She laughs at Sally. A grumble came from my stomach as I stared up. "She's going to..."
"Neat right?" Laughing Jack snickers to me. I feel my eyes beginning to water up.
No, this isn't neat. This is too much. "I knew I shouldn't have came-"
My vision becomes black as I feel a pair of hands wrap themselves around my eyes. Judging by the scent, it smells Jack, and his skin is dark and soft. My body begins to relax a bit knowing that he noticed.
"Don't say that. This kind of stuff doesn't hurt us because of what Slender has made us. Our healing abilities are unlike yours. We aren't human." The smell of both the water and forest mixed in my nose, confusing me. I hear a big splash, along with a lot of cheers.
I feel another pair of hands touch my shoulders, "You okay, Cart?"
It's Jeff. I touch Jack's chest, and he let's go so I can look at both of them. "Better, knowing that you won't die while jumping off of cliffs." They laugh, making me smile.
Jeff looks up at the top, where Sally now stood alone. "Yeah, guess so." He let's out a small breath before looking at me with a sad smile. "I'll be here for you, Cart. You're my sister, after all." Then, he swam away.
I smiled, "Thanks Jeff."
"Same here, Carter. If you need anything, I'll have enough time for you any time, okay?" He kisses more forehead, and backs up with a smile. "Loosen up and have fun, okay?"
I blush as I finally realized what he just did. I touch my forehead, where his lips where, and nodded.
"Yeah..." How the hell am I supposed to loosen up now?
So guys, what'd ya say? Like or Hike?
