Wait and See

"A Speed Dating Convention! Really?" I whisper yell to my best friend, Piper, as we walk into the auditorium. I knew she thought I needed someone, but I didn't think she was this desperate. "Yes. Trust me, you need it. Now go sit down." she whispered rather harshly back to me. "I can find someone on my own perfectly fine; I don't need 10 second conversations with strangers to help me out." I grumbled in her direction as she dragged me into a seat. As the leader of the convention started talking, I let my mind wander off to unknown places, until I was tapped rather roughly on the shoulder by Piper. "Ow!" I yelped as she rolled her eyes. "C'mon it's starting."

I sat at the table waiting for the fourth or fifth guy to sit down; I honestly lost count after the second one. He sat down, and I felt like I was in one of those cheesy romance movies. He was gorgeous. He had dark green eyes, and a jawline that could cut you in half. He was probably the most attractive person I had ever met. "H-h-hi, I'm Madelyn.", I mentally slapped myself for stuttering, but he literally took my breath away. "Hello! I'm Dawson", he smiles back at me. I thought I was going to die right then and there. "So, tell me about yourself." I think to myself for a minute. "Well, I'm 22 years old. I guess I love the feeling of summer wind in my hair, but I also love the crisp breezes of fall. I have a soft spot for dogs and books. I love to sing, and I also love to listen to music. I'm on my phone way too much. I could live in running shorts, but I also love cute dresses." I pause and smile. "But those are just a few things I like, and I'm guessing you want to know more about me."

"I'm shy and quiet until you get to know me. Once I know you, I never shut up. I trust way too easily, and it screws me over a lot. I'm usually pretty happy, but sometimes I get sad and I will want someone to cheer me up,but usually no one does. I only have one true friend because everyone I considered one left me in the end. I have a really hard time opening up to people. And when I love, I love hard."
