I swear that case is kicking my butt. I've been working on it for weeks now and I don't know how long the jury will be out.

Sighing, I stared down at my files. I always contemplate on whether or not my clients have a chance or not. Does he? I thought. This is a rape case and even though I win every case that I do I'm starting to believe he doesn't stand a chance. His story switches up every few questions and I'm not a person to lie to cover up for my clients. But, I can't just bail on him. He had already paid me in full and he picked me because I am the best of the be--

My phone began to vibrate. Picking up my phone, I checked the caller ID. Andy was calling yet again. Glancing at the time, I immediately realized why he persistently continued to call. It was our anniversary and I had told him that I'd be home around six or seven because he always cooked dinner on special occasions like this.

Sighing again, I had slid the answer button upwards. "Hello?" Even though, I knew it was him, it always seemed to be a habit to answer the phone that way.

"Hey, baby. It's almost eight." His voice didn't sound upset but I knew if I made him wait any longer than he would be very disappointed. "You're not still at the office, are you?"

"I'm sorry, Andy. I just lost track of time." I tried to reason. "You know that I'm swamped with work."

"No, it's fine, honey." He exhaled deeply. "Are you still coming?"

I stood up, beginning to pack up my belongings and files. I'll review his case again when after I get to dinner. "Yes, I'm leaving right now." After packing everything in my briefcase, I walked out of my office then locked the door and began walking in the direction of the exit door. "I'll be there no later than ten minutes."

"Ten minutes." He repeated. "I'll hold that against you." Now, that's the Andy I love. The joking and loving Andy.

"I'll speed just for you."

"And, I know you will too."

Chuckling, I shook my head as I got to the parking lot. "Okay, handsome. I'll call you when I'm close by."

"Okay, I love you."

I softly hummed a response, "I love you too." Before hanging up.

Quickly jogging to the car as fast as I could in my heels, I unlocked the car door and tossed my briefcase in the passenger seat before getting in and driving off. I kept my promise and started pushing eighty on the road. The office was a half an hour away from the house; so going eighty will help the time speed up.

Slowing up as best as I could to stop at the stop light, my heart began to pound furiously as a car speeds towards the car. Luckily, it was able to move out of the way before it hit my car. I sat at the stop light waiting for the light to turn green as I tried to even my breathing.

"What the hell is wrong with them?" I muttered to myself as the light finally turned green.

Putting my gas on the gas, I drove with caution after that. I turned the wheel down the dark road that lead a shortcut to the house. The woods added an eerie look to them, especially while it's dark. Jumping slightly at the vibration of my phone, I pulled it out my suit jacket, glancing from the phone to the road. Walter Leeks, my new client, showed up on the caller ID. Just as I swiped the answer button up, a loud horn caught my attention. My head snapped up to see a car heading straight for me. Out of instinct, I turned the wheel sharply causing the car to drive straight towards the woods. Before I knew it, the car began to flip over and over again. I'm dead. I know I'm dead.
