The cluster of forest in The Yard wasn't large, but it was a fair enough size for the clan that had claimed it. It was a spectrum of lusterous greens, blues and yellows with thick, full bodied trees and sinuous branches. The soil took on a more wholesome earth colour instead of the dry grit outside this shetler. It was a comfortable oasis that provided delicious things beyond Bitternuts. It was here that the Yhuns had turned to their turf. The Yhuns themselves were an arrogant, egotistic group that relished in their strength and power. Their pureblood genes, with which they prided themselves, was what gave them their generic appearance of a tall, muscular body with tanned skin, dark eyes and light hair. Unfortunately due to their own conceit, they were harsh and at times brutal to their own comrades if there was something to abuse them for.
"That's enough! Stop it!"
"Calm down, Jesper. We'll let you go if you just leave."
Jesper may have been apart of the Yhun clan, but he was odd as he didn't fit into the perfect stereotype of one. He was lanky and not as tall as the others at his age of seventeen, his hair was a platinum blond instead of the usual sandy colour and his eyes were a vibrant maroon. He wasn't that strong, primarily because he hated conflict, and was frightfully timid. It was because of his difference that he was a target for petty bullying.
"You're not being fair!" Jesper shouted as he tried to break from the circle around him.
"We're being very fair." one of the dominating group jeered as he forced him back into the middle, "I'm only using one hand."
Jesper gasped as he hit the ground. He brought up his hands over his head to prepare for the next torrent of aggression.
Instead there came a thin voice, "Stop messing around! Bain has called a council."
Jesper cautiously looked over his shoulder. One of the cheif's henchmen had appeared but was quickly leaving again. There was no hesitation to follow him from the group. Jesper quickly retracted into himself as feet trampled past him, though a purposeful strike against his shoulder wasn't avoided.
Jesper sat up and brushed the dirt off his orange t-shirt and black trousers. He was alone now amongst the trees, a quiet whistle of the leaves occupied the silence. He laid back down again and looked at the sky. It was night and glimmering twilight filtered through the cracked clouds. He remained in his suspended isolation. It was peaceful. He liked it. After a few moments Jesper thought to himself about staying there in that calm moment, but decided against it as his presence would be missed at the council. With grudging effort he stood up and swept his hair out of his eyes. He paused a moment longer before heading after the others.
When Jesper reached the council's circle, everyone else had gathered, save for those who were patrolling the area. Bain, the current clan leader, stood at the head of the crowd, his bronze arms crossed in infinite authority. He was the perfect Yhun, with tensed muscles and overflowing force. It was no suprised that he was the cheif. He was reaching his elder years but was still going on stubbornly, but that was about to change.
"The oracle has seen the future!" he cried in bellowing voice that seemed to shake the earth, "She has choosen my heir!"
Beside this beastly man was a small girl. She was one of those petite girls that very much resembled a porcelain doll. Her raven coloured hair fell in gentle waves over her creamy shoulders and wide, watchful grey eyes searched the area, as if viewing something unseen by others. Her delicate little feet were barefoot and she wore a simple white dress that had seen many years of wear. Jesper wiggled his way through the excited people to the front where he could see.
"Go on then." Bain said gruffly to the girl.
The girl blinked once. Twice. Then slowly, as if a thought was dawning on her, she raised her hand and pointed.
