"I love you Mum," Haley told her mother Grace Thrum, co-owner of Zonko's.

"I love you too, sweetheart. Be good at Hogwarts, have fun, don't do any dangerous pranks. Most importantly, make some friends." Her mother replied.

"I will. Bye," Haley said as she started walking backwards so she could wave to her mom.

"Oof!" Haley heard as she bumped into someone.

"Oh, I'm so sorry. Sorry, sorry," Haley apologized. She had bumped into a boy with messy jet black hair, hazel eyes, and glasses.

"It's fine. I'm James Potter, it is my first year here," the boy said.

"I'm Haley Thrums. Sorry again. It's my first year too. Hi," she said, smiling at him.

"Hi." James smiled back. "Do you want to sit with me on the train?" Haley nodded.

"Yes, I would be honored to sit with the great and amazing James Potter." Haley said with her best posh voice, curtsying.

"And I, the great and amazing James Potter, would be okay with the peasant Haley Thrums sitting with me."

Haley laughed, and then they started towards the train again, this time with a friend.

Since they waited a while to get on the train, almost all the compartments were full. They finally came across one with a boy in it. The boy had dirty blonde hair, warm light brown eyes, and scars all across his body. He was reading a book.

"Hello. I'm Haley Thrums, and this is James Potter. May we sit here?" Haley introduced them.

"Oh, hi. Um, yeah, you can sit here. Hi, I'm Remus Lupin. Hello." He said, noticing them for the first time. He forced a smile and scooted into the corner by the window. Haley sat across from him and James sat next to Remus. Remus took out his book again and began to read.

"What house do you think you'll be in? I think I'm a Gryffindor." James asked.

"Me too, but I might be a Hufflepuff. Actually, I might even be a Slytherin. Not Ravenclaw. I really think I could fit in any house but that. I'm pretty brave, I'm ambitious and determined, I'm patient, loyal, and hardworking too. When I want to be. So I don't know." Haley said, unaware of house prejudice. Then the title of Remus's book caught her eye. She smiled. "I guess you could say I am divergent and cannot be controlled."
