A year had passed. I had somehow survived the ordeal, and the doctors had said that it was a miracle. I got what I had wanted; all three of them were behind the bars. My brother wasn't harmed fatally in that fight. Absence of the nightmares assured me that Jessica was now at peace.

Sam told me that those blurred figures that I had seen that day were actually the police. An anonymous man had informed them about all the things that had transpired between the killers and me. The police knew that man by face and also his name, but he had requested them not to disclose his identity. He was the one who had carried me outside the house.

The evidence had reached the police, and the confession that had been recorded was enough proof to punish those criminals.

Who was that man? Was he the same person whose footsteps we had heard the day my friend bid adieu to the world? Will I ever meet him again? Why did he request the police to keep his identity a secret? What happened to Jessica's body? How was the house so clean when the police and I reached there? These were the unanswered questions that lingered in my mind, and I knew that these questions would bother me throughout my life, but I was satisfied for the time being.
