My Alpha Vampire

Chapter 1

Another day has come along with the line of possible suitors. Being one of a noble branch of vampires, everyone is trying to get with me. It's exhausting! I can smell all the vampires in the hall, trying to excell in being one of the selected few. My mother and father are extremely picky when it comes to other vampires. They always have to be from a certain family or have special abilities. The thing is I haven't even awaken mine yet!

Each day I have to practice and become stronger in order to learn how to run my family's domain. Everyday is the same: wake up, eat, learn, practice, etc. It's extremely boring. I wish I had an older brother or sister, so that I wouldn't have to be the only child. That's another reason for this infinite number of suitors.

I look out the window and stare at the mountains that I see every night I can see the trees losing their leaves as winter approaches. Soon enough, their branches will look like veins swaying along with the wind, giving the village an eerie feeling.

I can hear the sound of footsteps approaching my room. I quickly get up and change before the person who comes in calls for the servants. There is a short, almost resentful knock on my door followed by silence. It was my father, but there hadn't been his usual sigh.

"Come in," I say trying to hide the anxiety from my voice.

The door opens and creaks, and I immediately regret allowing him in. He walks towards me and gives me his daily disapproved look that says "Why were you born an omega?" He walks towards me and I flinch waiting for his powerful hand to slap across my face, but there was no slap. Instead, there was a pat on my head and an uncertain smile on his face.

"F-father?" I ask unsure of this new show of disappointment.

He puts a finger to his mouth and shushes me gently. He looks me in the eye and says words I've never expected to hear from his mouth.

"Alex, my dear son, I'm proud of you in many ways. I'm sorry for treating you the way I have for the past seven years. I hope you can forgive me. I love both you and your mother." He said in a soft and sad voice as he looked at me for the last time.

He turned away and and waved a small gesture that I haven't seen in years. The signal that meant it was time to head for our secret base. The last time I had seen that was on my tenth birthday, before I had gotten my first heat.

"Father, wait!"

I knew what was going on now and I had to stop it. Before I had the chance to catch onto his arm, he disappeared in a cloud of smoke he left when he teleported. It was too late to stop it now, he'd be gone in the morning. Forever. That word stung in my head, and for the first time in seven years I felt sudden anger.

The anger took complete control of me and I started throwing stuff around. Why didn't he tell me before? Why hadn't I noticed his sadness? Why did I have to be such a disappointment? Why couldn't I have been an alpha? Why couldn't I have not been born? My anger grew and grew as the questions came and went with no answer. The room was now shaking and things were levitating, smashing against walls, and breaking. The moonlight shimmered against broken pieces of glass and blood. That's when I noticed the blood was coming from my body. The glass had been directed at myself. I was planning to end my life just like my father. The thought made me upset and I knew I was alone.

The levitation had stopped and everything had fallen around me as the tears started falling from my eyes. Rough, big tears rolling down my cheeks. I couldn't hold in my sobs and I knew my mother would come; she always knew when I was in trouble. Right now, I felt the sadness that I had felt when I was locked in that small cellar. I was alone, so alone, in this enormous universe. I was going to miss my father and the smile he would show only to my mother. What if I forgot that he used to smile at me like that? What if I forget those memories that we had as a happy family? The thought made me feel so small, uneasy, and useless. I knew I wouldn't be able to forgive myself for not being good enough for my father.

I can hear the clacking of my mother's heels as she storms down the hall towards my room. She opens the door and I see her sudden suprised and panicked expression as she sees the room's current state. She looks at me and her eyes turn watery.

"Oh, Alexander," she yells in dismay, "my dear baby."

She runs towards me and holds me in her arms as my vision becomes fuzzy. The last thing I remember is feeling of her cold arms, her warm tears, and her soft voice.

For those who didn't understand terms:

☆ Omegaverse- A universe in which all sexes can get pregnant. There are three main catagories: (You're born into one of them/ can't change it.)
     ▪Beta: The most common in the popualtion. These are seen as average people.
     ▪Alpha: The "supreme" in society. They are seen as being more powerful, more intellegent, and "better". Being an alpha is not that common. Those who are alphas are more sensitive to an omega's heat (they are said to lose all rationality when engaged in intercourse with an omega or when they sense their pheromones).
     ▪Omega: Usually the rarest and are seen as low in society. It can be said that they are seen as "toys" and are usaully said to only be good at opening their legs. They experience monthly heats up to five days and take medicine to supress their pheromones. They have a rare chance of getting pregnant.

☆ Abilities: They usually awaken in vampires around age 13. Although, there are times they awaken when extremely feeling an emotion.  They are unique to each individual vampire and have no connection with genetics. These abilities can be strengthened by connecting with one's fated pair (will be explained in next chapter).
