Beep Beep Beep...
The sound of my alarm clock woke me up for school. I didn't really feel like going, I was probably going to skip. I quickly changed into a white tank top, tattered black jeans, jacket, and my plain black cap. I tied my boots and walked down the stairs with my jacket unzipped. My mom had just set breakfast for everyone and turned on the local news.
"Now back to our main topic John." the one man said.
"Yes, 31-year-old man Ronald Howard was closing business around 11 pm and went out to the back door which leads into an alleyway. He recalls being hit in the back of the head with a can. He thought at first it was a kid trying to be funny. He turned around to find a man with a knife trying to kill him when suddenly a boy calling himself the Shadow Stalker saved the man by stabbing him in the leg. Ronald recalls the boy's eyes turned fully blue like the water." John the newsman said. The TV went off.
"Time to eat. Honey, do you think anyone could be attacked like that?" my mom asked.
"Always the possibility. Things happen like this in the city all the time. This is just the 1st time someone got saved. I am still puzzled on the identity of this young man. We are guessing an age of 16 or 17 years old," my dad said.
"Do you have to find this boy to close the case?" I asked.
"No, but I want to. This case interests me. I have been assigned any cases involving this Shadow Stalker. Why the name?" Dad asked.
"It sounds cool," I said.
"Sure does, I will be the first person to find the true identity of the Shadow Stalker!" Lance proclaimed.
"Sure buddy," Dad said.
"Alright, Clara. Walk Lance and Dean to school," Mom said.
"Dean is so far away, though," I said.
"5 extra minutes, oh my gosh," Mom said. I got the point. I got my bag and Lance and I walked out of the door. I got inspired to help more when I heard dad say that crime happens that often. Could I do something about it now that I could fight? Do my eyes seriously turn blue?
"Lance, you and Dean are techy smart right?" I asked.
"Yeah, what you want?" Lance asked.
"Something to make my voice sound more male like," I explained.
"Temporary or Permanent?" Lance asked.
"Something I could take off and on. Could you make me a mask?" I asked.
"Color preference?" Lance asked.
"Black, also could I get night vision and thermostat sensors?" I asked.
"Yeah, but there is a price," Lance said.
"Will 2,000 dollars work?" I asked.
"Yeah, where did you get it?" Lance asked.
"Sam," I said.
"Okay fine, but why do you need this?" Lance asked.
"For a hobby, I am taking up soon," I said.
"Okay, I can have it after school. My engineering coach can pull me out of all my classes to work on this project. I will have Dean help," Lance said.
"Thanks so much, the money is in a duffle bag under my bed. Take the knife out the pocket," I said.
"Why do you have a knife?" Dean asked as he came up to us.
"For protective purposes. What is the Shadow Stalker attacks me?" I asked.
