Chapter 3

“Hey,Sean. Just came here to talk to Peter.”

“I ‘ll be right back.” I assumed he wanted to put away the load of papers he had in his hands before he further interrogated me.

The rest of the office staff seemed shocked as well. I greeted them with a smiling face. They bought it.

“ You could have just taken the day off. You wouldn’t get any work done in two hours.”  Sean was again by my side as I made my way to Peter O’Donell, my boss.

“I am not here to work.” I smiled at him.

“ We could have dinner later on.”

I wanted to go to dinner with him so bad and just forget all that was happening in my life right ow. It’s a shame I couldn’t. His blue eyes just melted my heart and urged me to go with him wherever he took me.

Now that I think of it, I cant leave.

I am not going to.

Why should I? Dad is never here. He’s never here with me. How would he know how I feel. He wouldn’t know. Why should I listen to him?

We stopped living under the same roof the day I turned seveteen and went to highschool. Besides that, he never even let me see Mom anymore. Not since  I turned eight.

He kept her far away and let me meet her only once in six months. Once on my birthday and once on hers.

He cant take my life away.

I wont let him take my life away.

“ Sure . I would love to .Tomorrow night.”

“Why not tonight?” His eyes seemed pleading. I had gone out with him more than once. But he seemed more eager today.

“Just some work.”

“ Fine. Tomorrow night. 8pm. Wear something red.” He smiled and left.

I went home soon and jumped on my bed.

My own home seemed more cosy now.

I drifted off to sleep knowing that tomorrow will be a long day.
