Chapter 1- Moving

I didn't want my senior year to be confusing. I wanted it to be fun and exciting. But no. The army decided to move my family back to another place.

I mean don't get me wrong at least it's the spot I grew up at, but in New York I had cool friends, and I was living the life all teenagers dreamt of.

Now I was back in sunny California. I still kept in touched with the "crew"

Jenny- the funniest sarcastic girl I've ever been friends with. Caroline- the quite one but once you get to know her, her laugh will take over. Emma- my back bone to everything. 5 years apart and we are still best friends as if nothing had happened. And then the guys, Anthony- shy smart one. Liam- funny one he's like the guy version of Jenny I swear they belong together. Vince- he's like the brother I never had. And of course jake.

I have no idea why my heart pounds, my palms start to sweat and i get the biggest smile when I think of Jake. I mean, his Facebook pictures make it seem like he hasn't changed a bit. But real life is different than pictures over the internet.

See the thing with jake and I...I don't know you can't say we had a "thing" because we didn't. We were never nothing. We were in junior high when I left.

But when I left he gave me the first kiss I've ever gotten. And although we were young...oh man, that boy can kiss.

On the airplane ride in thinking of how I happened. The kiss....

"Tali, I really wish you were staying" Jake said when we got to our secret spot.

"Same here, I don't even want to leave," I replied

"Then don't. We can stay here and be happy and make cookies all the time and go to the beach everyday. New York doesnt have beaches do they? They don't I know they don't. Stay Neftali, please? Please stay," he sounded so desperate it took me everything I had to not cry.

"If I stayed where would we live? And plus we'd run out of cookie dough so that'd meanwe would have to get a job. And every other 12 year old works at ColdStones so we'd be out of luck for jobs..."

He looked at me and rolled his eyes. "Neftali," He used my real name so he was serious, "Why are you always so realistic? Why do you have to think about the things that will happen in the long run. Think of right now. We're going to be in eighth grade. Then high school. You can stay with us. And when we get to high school we could look for jobs. And go to the same college after. And stay together, you're my best friend Tatli. I can't loose you." Just then he kissed me. And my world went spinning. One second we were best friends the next he was kissing me like it was do or die at our secret spot.

"Jake," he stopped.

"Was that too forward? Sorry I know we're still kids, but I dont know when I'll have the next chance to do that." I gave him a look and smiled.

"Why didn't you ever tell me? You know my feelings for you are mutual. And now I'm leaving tomorrow, and I dont even know when I'll see you." My eyes started tearing up.

"Tali-Bali, you are not a crybaby. Don't cry. You know what those quotes say...'If you love something let it go. If it returns back to you, it was always yours to begin with.' You will come back. I feel it in my bones. Everything will be okay." When he said this I know he was right. Everything would be okay.
