As Castiel waited in the dark on the cheap motel room couch he began to grow anxious. He ran his fingers over the worn couch and thought back to the incident that occured a few weeks back.
Dean had been sleeping and Cas had wanted to surprise him for Valentine's Day, which was coming up. He took the keys to the Impala and queitly started the car. Cas figured Dean heard the car start because Dean ran out right as Cas crashed the Impala head on into a tree. Cas had seen the look that crossed Dean's face only once before, he knew what he had done was serious.
Dean had been especially distant since then and Cas felt guilty and mad at himself. He also realized while waiting in the dusty motel room that he felt mad at Dean. He felt that the car was more important to Dean than him. He quickly shook the thought from his head and told himself it was impossible; that Dean loved him and he was just a bit upset about his car. Before he could get too carried away with his thoughts Cas heard a car approaching and the crunch of grvael under tires as the car came to a stop. As Cas heard footstep approach the door he lept off the couch and stood up and waited.
The door unlocked and Dean fumbled around for the lightswitch Cas had been unable to find. He sighed and threw his keys onto the small table near the entry way. As he looked up he met Castiel's eyes and all expression left his face. He became unreadable. They stayed that way for a while, staring silently at each other. Finally Dean broke the silence. "Cas." It wasn't a question, just a statement that gave no inference as to what he might be thinking. Cas felt his whole body slump and tears form in his eyes. Dean glanced to the side then back at Cas who looked up at the muscualr hunter with sad eyes. Dean let his eyes travel down the angel's body, though it was somewhat lost in the trench coat. His eyes reached Castiel's waistband and the object in Cas's hands and he felt himself smile and Castiel saw his eyes light up immediately. The way they always do when Dean sees pie.
