He was there.
His sudden closeness made her jump away, a bit startled by the shocking action of the stranger boy.
He quickly apologized, confessing that he really didn't mean to scare her at all. He smiled awkwardly, sitting few centimetres away from her.
"It's beautiful isn't it ? I usually come here when my shift is over, to just, think or forget about things..." He said quietly, clearly mesmerized by the scenery in front of him, even though he was used to it, everytime it will remind him how lucky he was to live here in Busan.
She hummed in response, not really sure about what to say, and what she's even doing here. Noticing how uncomfortable the situation was becoming for her, he spoke again :
"I'm Jimin, Park Jimin" He said offering his hand for a handshake with a beautiful bright smile on his face. She slightly laughed at the surprising action of the black haired boy, but shook his hand nonetheless.
"Y/N, Y/L/N" she said back with a smile as bright as his.
The evening started slowly, but the more and more they were talking, the more the time flew by. They learned about each other a lot ! She now knew that his name was Park Jimin, that he was an employee at the coffee shop she went to this morning for almost 3 years, that he lived with his bestfriend named Jungkook; she also learned that he loved dancing, even though she guessed this last night when she saw him moving in sync with the wind..
He learned a lot about her too, she was from Seoul, that explained her cute accent, that she just finished University and that she truly didn't know what to do with her life anymore, that she went on a trip here unexpectedly with her bestfriend named Lucy because both of them always wanted to see the beach and the city.
Both of them talking about each other, avoiding the soulmate subject as much as they could, but without really realizing it, Jimin found himself asking her, "Did you find your soulmate yet?"
Just hearing the word "soulmate" made her want to throw up or punch a wall, answering quietly inside her head "Soulmate ? Tsk Bullshits" But instead of this rather rude answer that Jimin definitely did not deserve, she opted for a softer one :
"When I was little, I picked up a flower and put it in a vase. After a few days, it died. I asked my mom why, and she said 'you can't force a flower to thrive somewhere it doesn't belong to'. And recently I realized people are like that too. This whole soulmate system is just a big joke." She looked at him in the eyes, looking real serious before continuing : "Since I was little I never wanted to find who I'm supposed to belong to, because I don't belong to anyone. I want to be the one to choose the person I love, without anyone telling me it's wrong just because that said person isn't my soulmate. But recently, I tried, I couldn't help myself, after 20 years of silence, my supposed soulmate communicated with me, and since then I couldn't not answer him, I don't even know why. But one day, he didn't answered anymore, and I still haven't heard about him."
He definitely didn't expect that. First the coffee, and now this.
He tried to hide his shock as much as possible, mumbling a "what a bastard" which made her smile slightly.
"I'm sad, hurt, angry and disappointed, but you know what ?" She asked him, still with a faint smile on her face. "I'll put on a smile and move on, it hurts, but I'll survive"
This sudden confession, the fact that she told him everything even thought they didn't know each other made him happy. He knew he shouldn't be, because her story wasn't really a happy one, but he couldn't contain his smile.
"I can't even explain how painful it is to wait for something that never comes..." She said her smile fading away quickly, but right after she shook her head and looked at her phone. Her eyes widened when she saw what time it was and how many messages her friends sent her.
She stood up at the speed of the light, making him panic a little and standing up as well.
"I-I'm so sorry Jimin, I gotta go ! It was really nice knowing more about you !" she said starting to walk away from him.
"W-Wait !" Jimin screamed running after her and catching her forearm delicately. "I... Thanks. Thanks for making me smile when I almost forgotten how to."
These few words made her heart melt. She looked at his pale face illuminated by the beautiful full moon and smiled. He was also the reason she could smile again and she finally realized it.
"Please tell me we will see each other again before you leave for Seoul" He begged, squeezing her hand, afraid to let it go without having the certitude to see her again.
She silently nodded. "Good night Park Jimin" And she left.
And he stood there. Looking at her figure getting smaller and smaller as she went away. He could have stayed there for hours, sit at the place they sat, eyes closed, remembering the way her voice sounded, the way her eyes were watery but she still had a smile on her face when she counted her sad 'love' story, the way he felt alive when he was next to her.
But he knew he couldn't, so he just got home.
He walked in and plopped on the couch, noticing that his friend was there too.
"Jungkook, have you ever craved someone so much that you ache?" He asked sleepily looking at the ceiling.
He could hear his friend sighing. "Everytime I'm away from her bro"
"Wait, does that mean-" Jimin started, but got cut off by Jungkook.
"Yes hyung, you're in love with that girl"
