A/N This is my first story so if you have something hateful to say, don't read it. Simple as that :3
~Cole's POV~
"Cole what's wrong? You haven't eaten in days and I'm worried about you." My brother Arien said as we sat at the kitchen table. I was pushing my food around my plate with my fork.
"It's nothing Arien. Don't worry about it, okay?" He sighed and quietly finished up eating.
I heard yelling coming from outside. Also laughing. What was going on? I sprang to the front door and looked out the window. Holy shit! Someone's house was on fire! I flung the door open. People were standing out front of the house. They were laughing loudly and cheering.
"BURN BITCH!" They yelled. I could hear sirens in the distance.
"What are you doing?" Arien said from behind me. He noticed the burning house and gasped. "What the hell?"
I told him to stay while I went to get a closer look. Luckily for me, there's a tree close to the one house over from the one burning so I was able to hide behind it. There were about six of them out here. A police car pulled up in front of the house. Two officers got out.
"Alright kids," the female said, "fun's over. We're taking you in." Two more cars pulled up.
The kids just stood there. One of them pulled something out of their pocket. The moonlight reflected off its surface and I knew exactly what it was--a knife. The male officer took out his gun.
The kid grabbed his arm and yanked it hard. Snatching the gun out of his hand, the kid crushed it with his bare hands. Whaaa? How is that physically possible? They laughed as they approached the five police officers. I heard something snap and winced. The sound continued. I was scared. I didn't know what to do.
Fire fighters had managed to put the fire out while others had brought out bodies. I gasped in horror. A woman and two small children were put on stretchers.
"Let's get out of here." A female's voice said. Some guy picked her up and they ran off followed by the others. Who were they? I ran back to my house, shutting the door and locking it behind me. I was so fucking scared right now.
"So what happened?" Arien asked when I shut the door behind me.
"Don't worry about it...I'm going to bed." Without waiting for him to respond, I climbed the stairs to my room.
Morning came and I woke up to the smell of something burning. I jumped out of bed and raced downstairs to the kitchen. Arien was swearing loudly and throwing out burnt toast. I watched as he threw out burned eggs.
"You can't cook for shit." I laughed.
"Yeah, yeah. Shut up."
"Let's go out to IHOP." He nodded and we went to get dressed. I sat on the couch waiting around for Arien. He always took longer. He finally descended the stairs and we walked out to my car. I drove off to IHOP.
We were immediately seated at a small booth. A waiter came by and we ordered our drinks. People were talking loudly a few tables down from us. My eyes widened a smidge as I recognized some of the voices. Those are the people from last night. Oh no. This can't be good.
Arien noticed my worried expression. He rose an eyebrow at me questioningly. I simply shook my head. There were two girls and five guys. One of the girls' eyes met mine. I quickly looked away.
The waitress came back to take our orders. She walked off again. I really wanted to get out of here now. When the waitress came back with our food twenty minutes later, I basically scarfed down all my food.
"Let's go." I said, paying for the bill and grabbing ahold of Arien's arm. I lead him out of the restaurant.
"What gives?" He asks as we get into my car.
No way am I telling him. "Nothing." I lie and drive us home.
